Rise of the Ancients is a tower defense game that deliberately strips the genre back to its fundamentals, presenting a straightforward but demanding experience that feels closer to older, uncompromising strategy titles than to modern, feature-rich entries. It doesn’t attempt to reinvent the formula, but instead leans into a more rigid, methodical interpretation of it. The gameplay structure is immediately familiar. Players defend against waves of enemies by placing towers along predetermined paths, each tower serving a specific function such as dealing damage, slowing enemies, or applying special effects. A couple of things to consider when buying this game: - there is no options/settings menu. Can't adjust audio ingame. - Outlines of the towers doesnt match with the lines of the enemy wave. - There was a weird thing going on with the targetting of the towers. - Camera is only from one point - To make things worse, the mouse sensitivity was through the roof and because the lack of an options/settings menu, you couldn't adjust that ingame! - Overlap of the text of the Cost of an upgrade and the upgrade button itself. Both were hardly readable.
