About Robin of Loxley the Legend of Sherwood

Robin of Loxley the Legend of Sherwood is a stealth game, your mission is to retrieve as much loot as you can through the levels avoiding guards and security cameras. You cannot harm or knockout the guards, so you will need to find a way to slip past them unnoticed, also you can distract the guards by making noise or by footsteps, doing so they will investigate the source of the noise you made, changing temporarily their usual patrol route, you may take advantage of this and slip past them and get access to guarded areas that otherwise are not accessible without being detected. Remember that if the guards will spot you they will start shooting at you and other guards will arrive very soon as reinforcements, you may try to escape them but this won't be that easy, so be careful and try to stay undetected.

Your mission is to retrieve as much loot as you can, that is: purses with gold, chests and special items worth gold and usually well guarded.

When you complete a level, you will get some end level points evaluating your performance during the level, and the next level will be unlocked on the map. Also if you wish to improve your level score you may play again a level as many times as you wish, but remember that unlocking the top perfect achievement for each level won't be so easy.

About the game:
"it looks like old school arcade game, with modern graphics. There is a lot of emphasis on sneaking mechanism, and a lot of things around it, making noise, distraction, and others. This is definitely a plus, because it’s adding a “think quickly” element, to arcade mechanism of collecting loot. Gameplay looks very engaging".

Key features:
Explore levels, find loot and keys to access locked areas
Think quickly
Slip unnoticed past the guards
Distract the guards on patrol when necessary
Get past security cameras and guards on patrol
Find your way through the level
Each level has 3 different score goals: minimum, middle and top score. To achieve the top score you will need to find all loot scattered around the level.

The game includes a tutorial level explaining how the game works; and for quick reference a Readme pdf file explaining how the game score system works, the control buttons and so on, is also provided.

✦ AI summary

Players criticize Robin of Loxley for poor control mapping that makes the game unplayable for many PC users, unforgiving level design with no manual saves and overly aggressive enemy AI that forces full level restarts, along with numerous technical issues including a nauseating camera wobble, stuck doorway animations, and tiny UI text. While the graphics are adequate, the game feels unpolished and clunky overall, with a $14.50 price tag that players consider steep for a mediocre experience that lacks the polish expected even for 2017 releases.

Robin of Loxley the Legend of Sherwood is a top down 3D "stealth" game where you run through various mazelike castles collecting objects (like Pacman and pellets). Avoid enemy soldiers to complete the levels. The controls in this game are unusable as the developer maps HOTAS/racing wheels etc as if they are console peasant controllers. For that reason, many PC gamers will find the character running to the top left, rendering the game unplayable. The graphics are simple but work well enough, but the game lacks polish and feels clunky. The overall quality of the game is mediocre and definitely substandard for 2017 when it was released, but this didn't stop the developer slapping an eye watering $14.50 price tag on it. There are better free to play games than this, I can't recommend anyone buys it.
Developer Response!
It is apparent from the developers comment that not only can they not develop a game properly, but they are also unable to read a review, or conduct testing across a test suite consisting of a single PC with a peasant gamepad plugged into it. Note to the developer: Because you have not …

I found this to be a highly frustrating experience. It's a stealth game with no manual save and a level design that is very unforgiving. You cannot knock out the guards, there are too many of them, and they kill you upon sight. If one detects you, every one will search you out. And when you are killed, you must then start all over and repeat the entire level. There are also no difficulty settings. There is also only one graphic setting of low to ultra and the graphics are faded washed out low res. You also cannot pause the game, player movement default is to run too fast, there is a tendency to get stuck trying to move through doorways, and there is a strange pronounced wobbling camera effect that caused me some nausea. The in-game text and menu text are also very tiny when playing in 4k resolution. Overall, I didn't enjoy my time spent with this game and I therefore cannot recommend it.
