About Rocket Skates VR
Become one with your rocket skates
Imagine having a rocket booster strapped to your hands and a hot pair of roller skates on your feed.
There is a mountain road in front of you and all you can think about is racing downhills with rocket power.
The premise might be simple but the fun is guaranteed.
Let’s mix it up
If just racing downhills with rocket power is not enough for you you can try one of many different game modes that will mix up
the experience. Here are a couple of examples:
Time to Rage
A rocket booster on one hand and a baseball bat in the other is all you need to destroy any target that comes your way.
You are the destruction!
Aim and Shoot
A rocket booster on one hand and a gun in the other - I mean what else would a crazy rocket guy bring to a mountain rally?
Be ready to aim and shoot!
Rocket Rush
What could be more awesome than rockets? Right, more rocket!
Because double the speed makes up for twice the fun!
What Steam players say

Players appreciate the core skating mechanics and find the game fun for short bursts, especially as a potential party game to compete on leaderboards. However, common criticisms include limited content with only five levels that can be completed in under an hour, repetitive uninspired track design that lacks a sense of progression, movement and turning mechanics that don't feel authentic to real skating, and various technical issues including motion sickness for some players and control problems on certain platforms like Steam Deck and some VR headsets.
I really want to like this game, and I really hope it will get there, but it's not there yet, for two reasons I think. 1: Movement/translation. In this game you are free to move in both directions, i.e. forwards/backwards, and left/right. In contrast, roller skate, blades, ice skates, skis, snowboards, skateboards and so on all let you move easily forwards/backwards, but resist movement sideways. For this reason it feels less like skating and more like being on a tray with castors, or sliding over ball bearings. 2: Rotation/turning. The only way to turn in the game is to rotate your head, or lift your feet and turn your whole body. One of the joys of real skating/skiing etc is the way in which you can turn with minimal movement, simply by leaning, without having to lift your feet. I would love it if you could turn in the game in a similar way, by leaning your head or hands but leaving your feet planted and staying facing forward. Furthermore, there is no moment arm on the rocket, it only ever moves you in translation. Holding it at arms' length in front of you, pointing sideways, ought to spin you around, but it only makes you slide to the side, still facing ahead, so you ca…8 found this helpful
I think this would be a good party game to see whom gets the best time. However, there is not much to do here. If you're playing alone you may have some fun for about an hour and then you may or may never pick it up again. I went through all 5 levels within 40 minutes. I started with the slow level and then jumped into mid and super fast. I'm not going to lie, it's fun but because the content is so sparse you feel like what else is there ... I played it on the HP Reverb G2 WMR which worked for the most part. You have to use the hamburger menu ( button with 3 lines ) on the left WMR controller to get back to the menu and use the trigger to confirm selections. I noticed that online video show two rockets, one per hand but for me only the left hand rocket shows up and I have no access to weapons as far as I can tell. I had no problem just using the left hand controller to navigate but it felt weird that I was just using one rocket to move along the track. Other than that, it's well made and the controls are very responsive. Even at the fastest setting, I was able to maintain control without crashing into the walls. I recommend it if you can pick it up on sale. This game has grea…1 found this helpful
It's fun for 5 minutes speeding along those serpentines but then it becomes repetitive with those uninspired tracks and no sense of progression or need to master anything in the game.
This game isn't suitable for Steam Deck: controls don't work.
