About Russian Front

Russian Front is an operational-level wargame in which you battle for the Russian Front - the pivotal moment in World War 2.

Experience grand strategy across the entire theatre of the Eastern Front; the military conflict that many consider to be the iconic attacker/defender scenario. Command massive armies at your fingertips, in this fully 3D turn-based simulation of one of the largest military campaigns in history, playable as both Germans and Russians.

Start in the early days of Operation Barbarossa and follow the German invasion of Russia through to its ultimate failure. Or start later in the war and jump straight into the Russian counter push to Berlin. A massive 108 turn campaign will take you from the opening stages to a final, overwhelming Russian offensive. Four shorter Operations, spanning 16 turns each, take place from June to December of each year and offer a more condensed experience.

The bitter weather on the Eastern Front was as much a danger as the opposing forces, and the game reflects this with a seasonal cycle that has a profound effect on your tactics as you struggle to hold out through the vicious Winter until reinforcements arrive in Summer. Players must also deal with fog of war effects, and will be able to cut off their opponent's supply lines, while making sure their own stay secure.

Gave this one a go against better judgement. It's bad...
Frontline WW2 warfare
The idea is good, premade frontline turn-based tactics where you only have to assign combats and push behind enemy lines. There are many games in which you can set up said frontline, however making one of this scope requires a lot of time. Sure, doing only the combat can be a bit dull, I can't recall a game that does just that, so surely unique.
Three major technical flaws
Mouseclicks Left click has two functions: selecting units/giving orders, and scrolling the map while holding. The selecting/orders part requires such a short click, you easily click too long. That wouldn't be a huge problem were it not that the mousepointer ends up in the center of the screen. This is for me as handicapped gamer a gamebreaker, and other reviews mention this too. This game is clearly a mobile port, it feels like nobody bothered to check the actual port. The port also leads to the second flaw: Incredible long combat calculations Combat from the AI takes several minutes. The only explanation I can give, the game probably uses a fixed amount of computation power in order to n…

The concept for the game is quite fun in general, and I really wanted to enjoy the game. However, it is far too slow and turns drag on for a ridiculously long time as you wait for the CPU to make all of its moves. There needs to be a fast forward button. The depth of the game is also only alright, and there are better games out there now.

I purchased this game and couldn't get past turn 14, tried again and again....i think it has bugs on WIN 10. The game is not worth the $21 AUD....do not waste your time or money on this until bugs are fixed.

The game looks very good, but it is so so easy. Way too simple, but for sure it looks good. I recommeend this game for super early stage strategy gamers. I got it becasue someone said it was like Avalon Hill's game, but it is not. This has even less Strategy than RIsk. But it looks good. If you are looking for a war game get War in the East I and II.
