Panzers on the Steppe

I am a life-time fan of hexagon war games, i.e., Avalon Hill. I was disappointed with Panzers Steppes only because there's something essential missing. It visually has the appearance of a classic board game, which is fine, And I certainly wasn't expecting modern graphics. Perhaps I missed something, but it has no music, no mood, and no explanation of how to play the game. I ended up searching menu items just to understand how the system works. So, I remain a huge supporter of the classic hexagon games, but again . . . there simply was no pleasure in the game.

I am not a novice to war games although I would not classify myself as an expert either. I finally finished this game with an axis win in January 1945, having attained all required objectives against the Russian AI. After having attempted to play the board game version of The Russian Campaign (Basis for this game) several times but not able to finish more than a few turns each time for a variety of reasons, it was very rewarding to complete this campaign. This computer version eliminates much of the tedious bookkeeping that the board game requires and the Russian AI was very challenging at different times during the game. I believe that the rules are explained very well and are a faithful representation of the board game. The game is over priced and offers little "eye candy"....the map is very basic , faithfully recreating the board game map. In my opinion if the programmer had embellished the visual presentation, it would have perhaps justify the price. Overall, if you were fascinated by the board game but unable to play it for whatever reason, this computer version is a very viable option. Played the board game , no scenarios, things just seem missing from the Russian Campaign. Really want to like this game

Game Review: The game had a lot of potential and reading over the rules, before playing, thought this concept was right up my alley. I've played many board games and enjoy computer games that simulate the feel and play style of a board game. Sadly I cannot recommend this game for the following reasons after playing for approx 66 min: 1. Installation Process: Took me several tries to get the program to install and start on my computers even though both my computers had more than the minimum requirements. The trick for me was to install the game on C drive instead of D. I've never had an issue with Steam installs before, but since the Developer was new to Steam I accepted that there is a learning curve and he did support the game early. 2. Contact with Developer Having the problem above I tried to send the developer an email, but it bounced back. So I was on my own for the installation issue. With that in mind, I have the impression that this program is probably not supported any longer when I started looking at the comments in the discussion forum. 3. I bought 01.09 2 your games Gettysburg: Fields of Valor and Panzers on the Steppe. I trying launch both game in win10 but they end launching after few second. The i tried launch them in win7 but in both games process started and pending but games don't started . I trying start games on two computers one with radeon card, second with nvidia, and on both games didin't work. I added same post at discussion group. If you don't fix game i left thumbs down.

Finally somebody made the digital version of a great WW2 board game that I had loved when younger. It's not cheap but given you can't really get these games in the market, still worth every penny. I hope the company makes more of these games in the future.
