Saint Kotar: The Yellow Mask, developed and published by The-Mark Entertainment, is a gripping psychological horror adventure that plunges players into a dark, atmospheric world steeped in mystery, occultism, and deep-rooted folklore. As a prequel to the original Saint Kotar, this title expands on the universe's rich mythology, presenting a narrative-driven experience that combines investigative gameplay with supernatural elements to create a haunting and immersive journey. The game’s blend of eerie storytelling, complex characters, and unsettling environments makes it a compelling entry for fans of narrative horror and atmospheric exploration. Set in the isolated village of Sveti Kotar, The Yellow Mask follows two protagonists—Ivan and Father Grigori—whose paths intertwine as they uncover sinister secrets lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly quiet town. The narrative is dense and layered, exploring themes of faith, guilt, and the human psyche while weaving in religious symbolism and folklore that contribute to a pervasive sense of dread and unease. Players are tasked with piecing together cryptic clues, unraveling mysteries, and confronting both external threats and inte…1 found this helpful

Saint Kotar: The Yellow Mask is really interesting introduction to a world that combines Lovecraftian mythos with folklore of rural Croatia. I would say that it is a good game but not for everyone since it is rather short without much action and with a dialogue so it is either something that you will love or hate. Voice acting and art style are both very solid in my opinion and there really wasn't a moment where I felt that they were lacking in that aspect. The gameplay loop is very basic point and click structure, you examine some objects pick up some items and then use them to resolve the obstacle or need to talk to npc before you can progress. One thing about the point and click structure that makes it stand out from the rest is the two protagonist system, during the game you will sometimes switch between the two chars. , what makes this stand out is that they give different comments when you examine objects in the game that reflect their different personality. Sadly there isn't much value in replaying as there is a fixed progression path and you are only really given choice for few dialogue options. Story is solid giving you a lot to think about and slowly revealing new informa…
A flop. I had such high hopes... really sad. The graphics ain't bad at all. Initially everything is great. The story kicks off strong and I really loved the bleak and foreboding setting. Chilling! But somewhere in the middle the story becomes meager and irrelevant. Almost absurd. The writing seems sloppy and uninspiring. The end is unsatisfying. I really wanted to like Saint Kotar - the yellow mask. too bad.. 5,6 / 10
It's great that the original prologue is back on Steam. Even though it's been here awhile, I've only now seen it. Grabbed it with the Crawling Man comic book in a bundle for the price of a coffee. Well worth it!
