This game does a really good job of balancing being made for a particular audience (Starcraft fans) with making the game accessible to people outside of that audience. There's a decent amount of scene-specific jargon that would be recognizable to people within the scene, but it comes alongside a glossary of terms that explains everything in a way that is clear and to-the-point. And though the MC's main conflict has to do with whether they can make it in the world of eSports, the broader issue of "can I succeed in what I'm passionate about in such a competitive field" is broadly relatable. The characters are each developed appropriately within the time frame of the VN, and they have a fun group dynamic. (Also Bolt is stupid hot lol.....;;;;) I'm definitely curious about picking up the prequel to see some more of Jett and Bolt. I also really appreciate that the game takes time to acknowledge the difficulty of being a woman in gaming circles in general and in eSports circles in particular. It doesn't take up a large portion of the story, but where relevant, it's addressed. A few very minor gripes: -When starting a new game, there's no 'skip read text' option. I had hoped to try out …

"SC2VN - The eSports Visual Novel" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is square in the middle of what we should expect from garbage e-book fanfictions on Steam. Yes, it's a high school anime club dropout fan-fiction about the authors imaginary girlfriend. The only notable difference here is the imaginary girlfriend isn't a fantasy anime girl but instead a simp for people who play Starcraft. Yep, that's how bad the e-book scene has gotten, authors need to fantasize about imaginary anime girlfriends who love them because they play a lot of video games. But for fans of nauseating cringe, the writing here is just as cringey as every other high school anime club dropout fan-fiction about the…

Engaging story, interesting characters, beautiful art. --> I made a decision early on that led to a bad ending and started over. I highly recommend saving the game before making decisions. On a personal note, the story made me realize something important about myself.
