About School Years

✦ AI summary

Experience a slice of life in a Chinese high school through this visual novel's first episode, following students navigating intense exam pressure, budding romance, and self-discovery during their pivotal final year. This is the foundation of an interconnected trilogy that spans high school, university, and adult life, grounded in real-world struggles and emotional authenticity.

This is a series of visual novel adapted from a real story. It is divided into three stages: high school, University and undertaking life to tell a common and tortuous life trajectory.
Here is the first episode of the series. In this episode you will experience the life of a high school student in China. The characters live and study under the background of examination-oriented education in senior high schools in China with the expectation of the future and the expectation of ignorance of emotions. During his last year, he has experienced many things which deeply impressed on him. This part of the story is more a pave for the development of the following episodes, but also plays a role of "appetizer" and is very exciting. Welcome to experience, thank you.^^

Although it's nice to see the animation, sometimes they look weird because only the mouth is moving whenever it happens. The game also uses a lot of original artwork for the cutscenes. Some of them use different art styles and differ in quality, and sometime…

It was free. So thumbs up. But translation needs some fixing, as a couple of in-game signs are missing translations. The story is slice-of-life, nothing extra, and it is fully voice-acted...in Mandarin, which is weird, but still nice.

School Years is a heartfelt visual novel that beautifully captures the essence of growing up in a high-pressure academic environment. The story, inspired by real-life experiences, is both relatable and deeply moving. The characters are well-developed, and the narrative strikes a perfect balance between emotional depth and lighthearted moments. The game's art style and music complement the storytelling, creating an immersive experience. If you're a fan of narrative-driven games, this one is a must-try!
