About ScreeIN
Screeln’s game begins with the end: your death. The rest is a descent into fragmented memories and constructed realities. Using a broken television set as a gateway, you switch channels — each one a surreal stage, echoing a piece of your past.ScreeIn blends exploration, environmental puzzles, and narrative horror into an episodic structure. Each “channel” is a level designed around a specific trauma, a specific rule, a specific lie. Some are quiet. Some are violent. All are watching you.As you navigate haunted offices, infinite parking lots, looping corridors, and abandoned domestic spaces, your role shifts. Sometimes you’re a solver. Sometimes you’re the observed. Sometimes you're no longer sure. In every space, you must enter the screen to proceed.Throughout, strange rules govern each space — rituals you must obey, or break, or decipher. These rules aren’t always written, and breaking them may not mean what you think. To move forward, you must solve puzzles rooted in these shifting logics.Scattered across these scenes are physical traces of progress — things to be remembered or reclaimed. You collect channel buttons as keys to advance, each one anchoring you to a deeper truth. The game uses a reverse narrative structure: the further you go, the closer you come to your beginning. In time, you may exit the screen, discover what truly led to your end — or get lost in the noise trying.
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"ScreeIN" is not really a game, it's another garbage "art experience" that's been dumped on Steam to evoke feelings of horror, and discomfort. It worked on me when I was horrified by all the disgusting AI slop that the developer had zero qualms shoving onto Steam. AI slop is never okay. So, it's hard to describe this as a game, the focus of the product is more like that of a mildly interactive "art" experience, there's only minor, shallow and uninteresting gameplay elements. The crux of this is to push a mediocre "experience" at gamers of the kind you would normally see in a public art gallery on amateur week. In this case I think the art galleries took out a restraining order when they saw these guys coming... AI slop is offensive to everyone, especially real artists. It's true that games can be art, of course... art is where the pinnacle of creativity, craftsmanship and expertise come together to form something greater than the sum of its parts. This product does a poor job of all of those three.…2 found this helpful
ScreeIN, developed by Team ScreeIn and published by Shepherd Games, is a free-to-play psychological horror experience that leans into abstraction and atmosphere rather than conventional gameplay structure. It frames its narrative around a striking concept: the player navigates a series of distorted realities after the protagonist’s death, moving between fragmented memories through the interface of a broken television. This setup immediately establishes a surreal tone, positioning the game as something more introspective and symbolic than traditionally frightening. The gameplay is built around exploration with light puzzle elements, placing it firmly within the walking simulator space. Each segment introduces a different environment with its own internal logic, often requiring the player to interpret visual cues and experiment with interactions to progress. There is little hand-holding, and objectives are rarely spelled out, which encourages a slower, more observant playstyle. At times, this design creates a satisfying sense of discovery, as players piece together what is expected of them. However, it can also lead to confusion when the game’s logic becomes too obscure, making it d…1 found this helpful
ScreeIn is a psychological Horror game, which released in late August for free on Steam. The game has a somewhat interesting TV feature, which allows players to travel to different stages via a TV remote. This feature was supposed to resemble an episodic structure, but it actually just works more like a gateway between a couple of short levels. The developer claims that these stages all symbolize different traumas the protagonist of the game has face throughout his life. I am glad the developer stated that on the Steam page of the game, because I couldn’t really decipher any coherent meaning of the game during my playthrough. The presentation is actually at least decent in the game with some nice effects for a smaller game. I however really struggled during my playthrough to understand what the game was trying to tell me. Things seem to mostly happen because they look nice, not because they wanted to tell an understandable story. I was for example unsure whether the use of mannequins for all characters was supposed to symbolize the arbitrariness and exchangeability of humans or whether the developer just cheapened out of using proper character models. It now seems to me, it must…1 found this helpful
Scr Scr! ⚠️ The game is just a soup of thoughts ⚠️! BUT some stuff could be explained or understood. Not too bad for a demo showcase or a prototype. Some people could relate to the scene. Let me know if there are any. I think to actually appreciate this project people might need to get the reference from the developers (don't take drugs or get lucky to not order the drugged food products without your consent?).1 found this helpful
Kind of an abrupt ending, but for a free student project it's alright.
Well.. this was something :o
