About Sengoku

✦ AI summary

Lead a Japanese feudal lord through political intrigue, military conquest, and diplomatic manipulation to unify 16th century Japan and become Shogun. Manage complex relationships with family, rivals, and religious factions across a detailed 350-province map while strategically deploying samurai armies and ninja clans to expand your power.

Sengoku is a deep character driven strategy game set in 16th century Japan. Play as a Japanese nobleman and unite the land of the Rising Sun under your iron fist. Use your military might, your smooth talking tongue, and your guile to increase your power. Watch your enemies fall like cherry blossoms in the early dawn of spring. Doublecross your enemies in an honorable and auspicious manner. Always make sure you have competent heir, if you should die before your destiny has been reached.

Key features

  • Play as a Feudal Japanese Lord and manage your relations with family, friends, and enemies
  • Rise in influence and power inside your clan and then move on to claim the ultimate prize, the control of Japan
  • Conquer and grow while rewarding your most valued retainers as you make a bid to become Shogun
  • Detailed historical map of Japan, divided into over 350 different provinces, during the Warring States era
  • Manage your relations with three different religious factions, the Shinto, the Christians and the Buddhists
  • Employ the aid of powerful Ninja clans when your Samurai armies are not enough

I wanted to give it a try, but the time that I spent in the game is trying to make the things look bigger, specially the font. It-is-so-da...-SMALL. Sadly the game doesn't auto adjust to the resolution (it is old), so if you have a big o good monitor everything is going to be small due the resolution. And if you change the resolution to make it bigger...the text looks a blurry. No game deserve that you have to hurt your eyes for it. I looked for guides and solutions, also I tried to modify the font files to make it bigger but nope. The game was niche and didn't developt a mod scene. Also if you want to play this period you could try CK2 (free btw) with the Mod of Sengoku.

Typical old-style Paradox game, still very enoyable.

You gotta like your games slow and bloated with features, cause the amount of mechanics you gotta learn all at once is staggering. I can't be resonably expected to learn that much for something that I have no idea if I will enjoy.
