SHIMAZU HD: Silent Requiem

Bottom of the barrel trash. Not only it is a mobile game ported to PC, but it's a broken one at that. With wonky physics, badly implemented mechanics and graphical bugs everywhere. They didn't even bother to change the UI, you can still see the mobile buttons on the screen. And they want to charge $25 for this crap? Anyone that rated this positively is a bot paid by the devs, no doubt about it. Avoid like the plague.

So, I'm not super super far into the game. About 10% though or so. But to be blunt. I'm not specifically impressed. It DOES have it's good points. The controls are tight and responsive. I don't notice any significant input lag. The art style is nice. The sounds are a bit cheap, but not abrasive and are balanced well. But then the bad... Many of the hazards are borderline invisible. A black spike among black grass. What looks like could be a statue in a house with pots and gold/gems on it instantly kills you as soon as you try and collect them. I've found an enemy that walked on air and disappeared, as if it were meant to be in another spot and teleported when another enemy loaded in. And the primary attack of the game doesn't actually have an animation. It just fires from the character's chest. And by my progression, I think the whole game on a first playthrough could be done in 2-3 hours. Which isn't exactly a long time for a 25 dollar game. It isn't a 'bad' game. But it feels fairly unpolished, and I do think there are better games for the price tag.

This game is terrible. Not only it costs 25€ (I wouldn't reccomend it even if it was free, and I got it for free) it's also a bad mobile port full of ridiculous bugs, unifished parts and bad design choices. There's only ONE(1) enemy with animations excluding the final boss and half the enemies (it's not an exaggeration) have their AI broken and don't do anything (and the AI isn't precisely complex). There are multiple errors with the layers in this game who sometimes are in front of your character when it should be behind him or there are lethal objects who are indistinguishable from the non-lethal ones or are hidden so you can't see them. I believe that this game wasn't tested at all. Combined with all the said before and the featured AI art, it feels like a rushed failed student project. On the bright side, the final boss actually works, thing that genuinely surprised me since I was expecting another dead AI punching bag.

This game prices itself at 25 Euro but is worth maybe 2. Anything above that price can simply be considered a scam because you DO NOT get what you pay for. The game is basic, the animations are stiff or nonexistant. Most enemies are simply 2D cutouts that glide back and forth along ther surface with no move, attack or death animations. The game keeps reusing the same few areas over and over in the level layouts so everything feels the same and it doesn't feel like you are progressing anywhere. The keymapping is bad. Your moves (a dash, a ranged attack, a "hide"" are bound to X, A and L and cannot be changed. The "upgrades" you can spend gold on are boring and only consists of a lowered cooldown. I did a quick google and saw that the game was previously a "free to download" mobile game, which checks out, as most of those are just scams. And you can tell as it allows you to pay gold for more lives when you die. clearly a leftover version from the mobile game where you would have to pay real money to continue once you died. I went into this a bit too hopeful, what if it's not that bad? Well, foolish me. This game is "Steam Deck verified" and yet it doesn't even run for me, it just has a black screen. If you run the Windows version, it runs, but achievements don't work. Going through all this, it really isn't worth it. It has some sort of anti-tamper DRM (why? this is just a cheap mobile game), controls and movement are incredibly basic, enemies may disappear or have broken animations, it isn't always obvious what might randomly kill you, and so on.
