BLADECHIMERA

The warping mechanic is a huge improvement for the genre but the ghost interactions in the heat of battle are way too hit or miss. To paraphrase Baz Luhrmann - If I could only offer you one tip, sunscreen would be it.

A very nice little metroidvania that I ended up being pleasantly surprised by. Although it feels like chunks of the game are just walk through corridors and blast enemies before you can even see what they do, the addictive OST and surprisingly robust character writing can help you along. The "neo-tokyo" future cityscape with the contrast of very old feudal style enemies , also very cool. Almost as if to make up for the relatively easy exploration and regular enemy placements however, nearly every boss battle is much more demanding and have lethal movelists that actually ask you to learn and overcome them, my only complaint on this end was that if using lux skills many of them can instead quickly turn into a dps race, I wish most of the bosses had a bit more health, or perhaps make them even more lethal akin to the final hidden boss. If every boss was like that, I would have adored this game even more, but thats just my opinion. great story and gameplay

Short, but sweet little Metroidvania. Mechanically quite sound. A bit too easy, save for the final story boss and the secret boss, however. Feels like there was plenty of untapped potential with the mechanics, and even story. Much of the story is told via text boxes in the protagonist's memories (which can be completely overlooked as it's hidden behind the same UI element as the Quit Game option) and then a few somewhat predictable twists towards the ending. It's still an interesting story, but again feels like there's untapped potential here.

Pros: Gameplay is smooth. Nice variety of weapons. Enemy Variety was good with plenty of intuitive ways to counter enemies. Surprisingly good story. Clever use of warp mechanic for getting pickups. More than one way to get through many puzzles. Cons: Skill Tree was a little weak systems wise. Needed more MP use variety. Felt like the game could've been longer with more maps.

Good metroidvania, it has a great teleport into any room system that other metroidvanias should also have. My only complaint is that 14h to finish everything is too little. I need more games like this.
