[H1]Fun, charming and full of mushrooms judging your every wrong move[/H1] Little PSA: First of all, thank you to the dev for personally DM’ing me a key to review Shroomtopia. As always, this is a 100% honest review. Shrooms, spores, praise and criticism included. I also only completed about 75% of the puzzles for the reasons cited below, so I can't mention anything regarding the fifth world. Thank you for your understanding. Shroomtopia is a cute, colorful puzzler built around gravity, liquid flow, color mixing, and the occasional portal chaos. The little mushrooms are downright adorable, the visuals are polished, and with 75 puzzles across 5 worlds, there’s a solid chunk of content for anyone who enjoys watching water behave wildly. The mechanics are clever, backtracking is easy, the vibe is cozy, and there’s a nice spread of difficulty levels so beginners and puzzle veterans can both find their fun. But starting around world 3, the difficulty curve goes rogue. Some levels are breezy; the next one suddenly asks you to become Archimedes, a structural engineer, and a psychic all at once. You can skip puzzles within a world, but you must complete every single one to progress to…

The absence of hints and/or guide or at least the SKIP option is the reason I do not recommentd this game. I will change my review when the developers listen to the players and put out a hint , skip option or a community guide. For a game that does NOT let you progress to the next level without solving every single puzzle in the previous one, a guide or a hint system is a must. Judging by the global achivements , Almost 60% of the players got stuck in the second level and never got to see and play the remaining 3 levels. We have bought the game but were barely able to play beyond the free demo! Do not judge this game by the relaxing music and the cute graphics. It gets progressively harder and once you get stuck on a puzzle you can not solve to progress it becomes a frustrating experience.

Cute shrooms, colorful artwork and challenging yet fun puzzles. This game is everything I could ask for :) 🍄 The Good Stuff 🍄 - It is beginner friendly, but it still has enough difficult levels for the more experienced puzzle gamers out there - The shrooms are lovely and each have a personality of their own - The background music is beautiful and relaxing - You can create your own levels and share them with the community! Which is not a common thing in this type of puzzle games, so I think it could be really interesting to see what other players can create (I already have 2 levels up in the community myself, if you'd like to check them out do mind that they are a bit silly lol) 🍄 The Could be Better Stuff 🍄 - The narrative is a little confusing at times, which is not really a big deal since it's not the main purpose of the game anyway, but it could be a little more well written - I'd like if it had a redo button as well as the undo one, because sometimes I undo my moves and immediately forget them, so a redo could be useful. Shroomtopia is a reasonably good spin on [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1040550/Spring_Falls/]Spring Falls[/url]. I'm annoyed at the narrative (no need for it here, feels like an attempt to extend playtime past 2hrs), but not seeing serious flaws otherwise. The concept is sound, the level design is decent, runs well. On a technical side, it should include hints, skips or something else (there are somewhat tricky levels) that it doesn't have now, but given the scope, I'd say it's minor.

My little brain is barely equipped to deal with the first 30 puzzles, but it's a pretty solid puzzle game. It takes the formula of water based gravity puzzle and adds a color wheel to make you think about which water pools can and cannot mix. It also makes you think about the order they mix and the specific color they are on the color wheel to create new colors. The added necessity to connect a source of growth to the end goal all combines into a puzzle game with tons of possibilities.

So so happy I had the opportunity to playtest Shroomtopia before release (got 6,4 hours that are not gonna show up in this comment) and it promises a real engaging game for puzzle fans. Satisfying gameplay with adorable visuals! Just when you think you're getting used to the difficulty levels, the mechanics have a way to reinvent themselves to keep you thinking and testing possibilities in all different ways, so even on a second playthrough you'll have a fun experience. Don't forget to repeatedly click on the different colored shrooms 🍄
