About Sin Slayers: Reign of The 8th

✦ AI summary

Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th is a challenging roguelite RPG where you lead a party of cursed heroes through sin-corrupted lands, balancing moral choices against the risk of summoning increasingly deadly creatures. Build your team, learn enemy weaknesses, and face manifestations of the seven deadly sins to break the cycle of darkness.

Sin Slayers is back on Steam after a while at its best. It’s a challenging RPG Roguelite where you decide the fate of the world while taking its sins upon yourself. Would you be able to cling to the light when everything else has succumbed to darkness? Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th includes:
  • New threats from an unexpected 8th region
  • Revised game flow and balance (no need to complete each region twice)
  • Numerous optimizations and improvements (faster startup and smoother gameplay)

Atone to your sins

When everything around you has succumbed to madness, would you still try to do the right thing? Navigate the Sinometer: the more sinful actions you perform throughout your run, the more riches you can recover - but beware. The world would notice, unleashing increasingly horrendous creatures in your path until the Sin Lord himself emerges. Would you dare to cross the point of no return?

Build your party of Lost Souls

Knights and rogues, witches and nuns - all have their burden that lures them into this madness. Build your team, gear up and train, and lead once more into the monster-filled plains where they have to fight bearing the curse you cast upon them with your choices

Slay the Sin Lords

Each enemy is a manifestation of Evil - yet all of them have their weaknesses. Repeatedly facing the same monsters you will learn more about them and the ways to exploit their weaknesses. Use it to your advantage and face the ultimate challenge of Sin Lords, walking manifestation of Cardinal Sins. Perhaps their souls could break the cycle and free the Lost Souls from the Nightmare they cast upon themselves

I do recommend this painfully mediocre game, but I regret contributing to the "mostly positive" rating. The game itself is basically Dark Quest with a hint of Darkest Dungeon flavor thrown in (well, not really flavor. Maybe just a smell). At the same time, it won't scratch either itch. All of the complaints already listed exist. Mainly the UI being a nightmare. I haven't been playing long enough to say definitively, but I still feel like I've already seen what this game has to offer, enough to write a review on my limited time with it. And all I can say is that this game is slightly on the better side of mid, which is technically not a thumbs down. I'm not sad about it because I got it in a bundle. I think I paid $1. It's worth way more than $1. It's definitely not worth $20. I do NOT recommend you pay $20 for this game. Ever. But it's not a bad game at all. The biggest problem with this game is that there are so many better places to spend your money. If this was 2002, I'd probably max this game out and nag my friends about it... But unfortunately, it's not.

Sin Slayers: Reign of The 8th is a dark fantasy roguelite RPG developed and published by Goonswarm Games that expands upon the ideas introduced in the original Sin Slayers while modernizing its systems and structure for a deeper and more replayable experience. The game blends turn-based combat, party management, and procedurally generated exploration within a grim world shaped by the corruption of human vice. Rather than presenting a traditional linear RPG adventure, the game embraces roguelite design principles, encouraging repeated runs where players gradually master its systems while uncovering more of the cursed world and its sinister rulers. The narrative takes place in a bleak land that has been consumed by the influence of the Seven Deadly Sins. These sins manifest as powerful entities known as Sin Lords who dominate different regions and spread corruption across the world. However, the story introduces a mysterious new threat known as the “Eighth Sin,” a force even more dangerous than the original seven. Players take control of a group of Lost Souls—warriors, rogues, spellcasters, and other adventurers who have their own past mistakes and motivations for confronting the da…

I really wanted to like this game thanks to the aesthetic, but it just can't compete. A game with a great aesthetic and good music like this needs an actual story, complex fighting mechanics, and intuitive UI. As it is, I'm not really sure why it exists. Why put in the effort to make this, but then not put in the effort to make it interesting? This should be a phone game with an advertisement for car insurance at the bottom of the screen. It's sad because the music is interesting and the aesthetic is great. But the fights have few options, which is a fatal error in a purely "gameplay" based game with little to no story. Fights are not interesting tactical matches but mindless slogfests. I pity anyone who places so little value on their time that they would mindlessly grind away at something like this. I got a piece of gear and had no idea how to choose which character would wear the gear, then during a fight a tutorial box popped up to tell me which side of the screen my characters were on and which side the enemies were on. Wow, thanks for the tip! That will be really helpful for that one player out there who goes into combat for the first time, sees goblins on one side and a hero…

https://youtu.be/r23Fze3OTdE Significantly limited in early game options and progress the initial investment to make meaningful or even any real choices is far to steep.
