Leveling up prompts a choice: pick one of three random Cards to modify your core abilities. You build your character's power during a run using four types of items:
- Cards: Modifiers that change how your character's main abilities work.
- Scrolls: Standalone spells (like fireballs, tornados, or lightning strikes) that operate independently of your main class abilities.
- Relics: Passive items found in chests or bought from shops that stack and alter your gameplay mechanics.
- Runes: Temporary stat boosts or active equipment slots that last until the run ends.
- Spirit Master: Level up your skill tree to unlock new base abilities. Using these abilities during a run will unlock new, related Cards for the future.
- Blacksmith: Upgrade your weapons and apply elemental attunements (Shadow, Fire, Water, Lightning, Air).
- The Gambler: Take on challenging modifiers for your next run (like increased enemy damage or faster movement) in exchange for better rewards.
- Merchant: Purchase starting equipment and scrolls to give yourself an early advantage.
- Storyteller: Check your run statistics, enemy information, and game lore.
- Trials: Complete random objectives mid-combat. From hunting down key fragments to summoning and executing powerful rogue generals.
- Survival: Stay alive against difficult waves of enemies until the timer runs out.
- Platforming puzzles: Test your movement mechanics in high-stakes platforming challenges.
- Elite Combat: Take on stronger enemies for a guaranteed Relic drop.
- Shops & Healing fountains: Spend the Souls you've collected to buy gear, or sacrifice Souls at a fountain to refill your healing flask.
