SNK VS. CAPCOM SVC CHAOS represents a fascinating chapter in fighting game history, one that finally receives the modern treatment it deserves. Originally released during the twilight years of the arcade boom, the title thrives on a simple but irresistible concept: bringing together legendary combatants from SNK and Capcom under one roof. Developed by Code Mystics and published by SNK CORPORATION, the Steam release preserves the original experience while introducing features that make it significantly more approachable for contemporary players. Rather than overhauling the game with remade visuals or reworked mechanics, this edition focuses on honoring its legacy, allowing players to experience a crossover that once felt like a dream matchup brought to life. The game's biggest attraction remains its diverse roster of 36 fighters drawn from some of gaming's most recognizable franchises. Icons such as Ryu, Ken, Terry Bogard, and Mai Shiranui share the spotlight with more unconventional picks like Athena, Demitri, Zero, and Mars People. This variety gives the game a personality distinct from other crossover fighters, embracing both fan favorites and obscure selections. Each character …

This is great! SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is finally on Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch! SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos has been stuck on the OG Xbox and the rival of the OG Xbox, the PlayStation 2 for 19 years! Even though I always tend to get my butt kicked, especially if I lower the difficulty! I'm here for the fun but I'm not a full pro at SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos!

You would only want to buy this unbalance mess just for the better inputs.

Is it a fun game? Yes. Does it have the most mind bogglingly unfair AI? Yes SNK has a reputation for button reading douche bosses, but my word they outdid themselves with Shin Akuma. The guy will react to your jab with a super, A JAB! You want to punish a whiffed hit? He'll super you then too. You want to hit him with a meaty on wakeup? Super for you. His moves have priority over everything, you can only hit him through trades or sheer luck, sometimes your hits will literally go through him without making contact, that's how bad it is. I understand the need to make the game difficult but come on, at least make it playable. Violent Ken, Orochi Iori and Serious Mr. Karate are pretty awful too but at least have some weaknesses you can exploit. Otherwise the AI just doesn't play by the same rules, I faced Guile who never needed to charge any of his moves, he just stood there throwing out booms and flash kicks. Anyway, rant over, it's a shame there's no online presence anymore, because this game is still a blast through its presentation and gameplay.

This one was particularly frustrating. There were times when the sprites were clearly overlapping, leg over leg, and my strike did not connect. It is otherwise a fun game. The biggest draw is the roster of characters. It was fun playing as Red Arremer. Each character has a unique dialogue with each other before their match. I would recommend it for fighting game enthusiasts looking for something new.
