It's a low cost mashup of Beat Saber + Pistol Whip + Supernatural VR Fitness = SolarBlack --- Beat Saber is the big name in the action-rhythm genre that everyone knows. You smack colored orbs with glow sticks while listening to music. Solid game play, good selection of music tracks and industry standard hit detection. Pistol Whip takes the same concept and uses pistols instead of glow sticks. The ballet of bullets and beats tries to focus on letting you feel like an action hero. Supernatural VR Fitness takes the same concept and puts the focus on fitness, expanding what it offers to include meditation and even coaching. Where does Solarblack fall into all of this? You've got the sabers from Beat Saber, the guns from Pistol Whip and the rhythm, music and visual styling feel more inline with a fitness routine like Supernatural. Comparing all 4 games, Beat Saber has the better hit detection and a wider selection of songs than Solarblack. Pistol Whip has the better immersion and action-hero feel to your game…11 found this helpful
Interesting game: Full of elements you need to avoid, slash, shoot or use... You'll need some physical preparation to get into the hardest levels. So it can be a good workout too, as well as for your stamina than for your reflexes and speed/reaction time training. Their peaceful electronic music will lead you into strange and wide worlds. Consider use the sabers in claw mode, in order to get a better and more intuitive aim at shooting. If you love the elements I've described here, then this game is made for you! Here an MVR video of me showing the legendary (hardest difficulty) gameplay: https://youtu.be/uw5CVys7FZs6 found this helpful
"Beat-Whip" wins❕
If you can't afford Beat Saber and Pistol Whip, this game wins. It's not better than either, but it scratches the itch of both. The songs are decent, but unknown to me. And there are some thing regarding the pistol aim, and visual "shoot now" aspect, and the orb slash direction visuals that I'd like to see changed. And, I had to go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET DATA in order to make the game actually let me play. But overall, I enjoyed the game That's why if you go to "LEGENDARY" leader board, the first ~4 songs have me in the list. 😉 IF ANYONE wants to play some VR, or have questions, join our VR group and enter the CHAT area. A rather clunky, frustrating, unexciting rhythm game. That's about as much I can be bothered to say. I enjoy rhythm games, I've played most of them. I really dislike this one.4 found this helpful
SolarBlack is a paid VR shoot and slash notes to song. It worked on my Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 16 songs and a tutorial map. Has 18 steam achievements. Maybe buy this game, if you like beat saber like games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. While visually not as stunning, it is basically beat saber, pistol whip and osu combined and I'm all for it. If you like those three games and also like playing some VR titles that aren't as popular or polished then definitely give this one a try.3 found this helpful
