Sorcery Jokers All Ages Version

VN with a really high quality production. The story is nothing special, but it's decent enough (though I remember the finale being pretty underwhelming). The artstyle is gorgeous and the fight scenes are engaging. I finished this VN back in 2018 and it was a positive experience overall. I liked most of the cast, but Senri is definitely better as both character and the protagonist, so the duel protagonist thing was kinda holding the story back for me and I wish Senri was the only protagonist. 8/10

Sorcery Jokers is a chuuni VN about a world where magic suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and the secrets that surrounds it. Overall, it's at least alright. Not bad, but doesn't blow you away either. [-] Lack of CG variation -- Battles CGs are all reused here and there with some visual effects put in (Good thing there's this neat little thing called your imagination). Despite the gruesome stuff the MC and heroines are implied to go through, the CGs still look as if they're in peak condition which feels a little weird. As this is a visual novel, I don’t need to explain why it’s great — anyone familiar with the genre will understand. Consider this a well-deserved +1 positive review from me!

Sorcery Jokers is a decent fantasy battle visual novel, but it has nary an aspect that I don't have mixed feelings about. It's an urban/science fantasy story in a world in which magic is a relatively recent phenomenon—only 12 years prior to the story, some ordinary people started to gain magical abilities. In the present, the government, economy, schools, and more are all in in regard to magic. However, there's a seedy underbelly of plots and conspiracies to the magic world that both protagonists become involved with in some way. Haruto is one of those protagonists. He's a fairly ordinary teen-aged boy with a strong sense of justice, but he attends magic school instead of normal school. While he seems to be the slightly less favored protagonist, I actually enjoyed reading his perspective more. He actually has emotions and an obvious reason to delve deeper into the underground of the magic world, so it was easier to care about what he was doing than it was for the other protagonist Senri. Senri actually does have perhaps even a stronger motivation for his actions than Haruto, but that motivation is unknown to the readers until the last 2% of the story, so I ended up not car…

Good read. It starts off slow but the pace picks up later on. Every character who gets a sprite go through nice character developments (well, except some, we can't have all winners). The two main characters go through their separate arcs. The game is weirdly and funnily PG because, despite some gruesome depictions in text, character sprite does not actually reflect any damages and they just look like they are in tip top condition at all time. Does not bother me much though.

I really liked this read, I finally finished skimming through the galleries, and the characters are quite nice. The only gripe I have about this is game is the lack of updates for the blackscreen when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode. You need to tinker the settings file for it to work again... and it's troublesome. They should really fix that engine of theirs. (or restart the game whenever you want to play full screen) Additionally, you can't hop to the "already read scene" through the History/Log function, other than repeating the voicelines. (like NN's jump scene) Other than that, the lack of voicelines for the monologues, I guess. But the rest are definitely simple and cool. P.S. There's this bug where every gallery scene you watch, the options for it gets removed... IDK why but I always need to restart the client whenever I watch one. MG doesn't care, I guess? Definitely for adult people only.
