Reflect bullets to the beat in this psychedelic rhythm bullet hell shoot 'em up. Patterns of rhythm and bullets are melted into a unprecedented gameplay experience. Feel this immersive audivisual experience filling your soul with excitement and joy.
Different colors flash to different parts of the beat or melody.
Fly near the bullets and hit the button exactly on the beat.
The patterns get more complex with every stage.
If you can chain more bullets and make multiple successfull chains in a row you will be rewarded with extra points and lifes.
At the end of every stage a boss is waiting for you with it's own music track.

It's skill based. Easy to learn, hard to master. Each section is unique and leaves room for improvement. The scoring system awards tactics and skills.

I play bullet hell shoot 'em ups (e.g. from Cave) regularly and understand the deep scoring mechanics those games have. I usually reach the last stage with one credit. I particularly like shooters with innovative concepts like Ikaruga.

I used to play rhythm games daily and still play them from time to time. I love how rhythm games force your whole body to be part of the game. This is what I tried to adopt in Soundstorm.

A great mix of Bullet Hell + Rhythm game, with a Psychedelic theme. The mechanic works really well, what seems to be a simple "hit the bullets at the beat" get way more complex when you have different bullets that go at different beats, which also make you immerse into the great soundtrack. Together with its art style, visual effects, and progressive thematic levels make for a unique psychedelic game experience.3 found this helpful
I just beat this game minutes ago and this is definitely one of the more unique shmups that I have ever played. Instead of shooting in this game, you press the shield button to cancel out enemy bullets, but only as they flash to the rhythm. Time it right and you will get more points. Successfully do it multiple times in a row to maximise your score. It's a simple scoring mechanic on paper but surprisingly challenging and rewarding in practice. I also like the hand-drawn and painted art-style here. Pick this one up if you are into shmups but you also want one with a unique gameplay loop. Especially pick this one up if it's on sale.2 found this helpful
