Normally i´m not playing Visual Novels, but from time to time i like to. SPACE IS RED is taking place on a Soviet Starship in an Alternate Future. The USSR is still existing and they are in Conflict with the US. The Black/White Manga Style Graphics combined with that great Sounds and Music are amazing. You can really feel the closeness and despair of the Ship and it´s Crew. It was an interesting 3 hours. Game kinda short that why i don't want to spoiler main plot. All i can say - in space no one can hear you scream. P,S, atm achivement for ending #1 bugged

In this updated version, the enhanced graphics successfully convey the oppressive atmosphere and existential dread of deep space Unfortunately, the narrative pacing is flawed; the plot accelerates abruptly and concludes far too quickly, leaving the overall experience feeling brief. The audio design is similarly inconsistent, with the soundtrack fluctuating erratically and transitions occurring at random—a flaw likely linked to the automated generation tools Additionally, world-building is severely lacking. The alien species are poorly defined, and the mysterious planet remains largely unexamined. While a narrative does not require total exposition, the lore presented here represents a mere fraction of what should have been explored Ultimately, while it is not an entirely flawed visual novel, the final product remains distinctly underwhelming.

Space in black and white has never had this much soul. For a single dev project and recreation of older title this was surprisingly neat package. Albeit quite short (few hours for initial ending) and it's more of a suspense story instead of a horror one as Captain makes decisions that decide the course and grim fate of the ship and its crew, two major branches and then minor variations on the endings for both. Minimal amount of kinetics in the graphics presentation but the soundtrack and visual style combine into a good atmosphere.

The game is great but lacks polish: [list] [*] Atmosphere is probably the strongest part of the game. The description does not present it well, but this is a cosmic horror experience, narratively similar to [i]Event Horizon[/i], [i]Alien[/i], or [i]The Thing[/i]. Everything non-essential for the genre is reduced to minimum; for example, there is little information about the world beyond the fact that the USSR still exists and is competing with the US for dominance in space. [*] The soundtrack is great and fits the atmosphere well. [*] Writing and plot are generally good, but the writing clearly received little to no proofreading and feels rough on a few occasions. [*] The visuals are mostly first-rate. The game draws heavily from Soviet aesthetics (military uniforms, stern facial expressions, functional environment design), while the overall style is influenced by seinen manga (such as [i]Ghost in the Shell[/i] and [i]BLAME![/i]). That said, a few of the assets are shoddy, for example certain facial expressions of Sokolovsky (which also suffer from noticable AI artifacts). [/list] P.S. There is no bug with ending #1.
