About Space Sprouts

Welcome Aboard!

You’re Oda, a first time space traveler, forging their own story aboard a mysterious solar punk spaceship. Explore a strange ship filled with cozy cosmic chaos, master a physical world full of unexpected situations and uncover the traces left behind by former inhabitants - one journey at a time.

A mysterious ship of wonders.

Explore the strange rooms of a vast, organic spaceship - through flying, floating or walking on walls. Uncover the interwoven layout of a ship full of mysterious machines, peculiar plants & odd objects.

Cozy cosmic chaos.

Experiment with playful physical chaos, take care of potent alien plants, set up logical signal chains and master bizarre black hole science. Exploit the chaos to venture deeper into the ship.

Limited time, unlimited knowledge.

By replaying your journey, you gather more and more knowledge to progress faster and further with each run. Become a master of handling your environment - one short hyperlight jump at a time.
Features:
  • Everything is physical.

Everything around you is physically simulated. All objects have weight and react to impact and gravity - and so do you.
  • All items are connected.

Fruits emit signals, signals activate buttons, buttons activate machines, machines convert items, items get thrown into black holes and… well good luck. In space no one will stop you creating chaos.
  • Dynamic gravity.

Use and change each room's gravity to walk on the walls, ceiling or just fly around in 0G to explore places normally out of reach.
  • Fill in the blanks.

Collect all the memories and piece together what really happened during Odas first journey into space.

I think part of this review is my bad, because I didn't really look into the details before getting into it because I was immediately attracted to the art style (and that's usually enough for me). I - and a few other friends - thought this game would be planting plants in space. This is not what the game is at all. You're in a constant very short loop and explore the world little by little before you arrive home. I generally dislike time loop games because I don't like having to do the same thing over and over, and I also dislike time limits. I was having fun exploring it on stream, though, but encountered a bug that made the same items clone hundreds of times and the game started going at like 1 FPS. It was a while ago now, so this might've been fixed. If you do like puzzle style games with a time limit, this might be for you. It just didn't work for me at all. Finished? No (DNF) Steam Achievements? You will absolutely need a guide. Steam Deck? - Rating? - Cannot give rating because it really just wasn't for me. Very cute game involving short time loops framed as the retellings of a grandma to her excited grandchild, each time remembering a little more of how her journey to reach the planet she now lives on went. Goal is largely just to find everything you can do on the ship, thereby unlocking new "memories" you'd forgotten previously and extending the time it takes to tell the story (and thus that you have to run around each loop to do new things). Simple fun, good for at least a couple of hours.

Really fun little game, loved the time loop aspect.

A super fun time loop puzzler that lends itself perfectly to short play sessions and comic chaos. I adore this game, and I've had such a great time getting lost and distracted that I bet it will take me a long while yet to finish! The art is beautiful, the sound design is lovely, the puzzle mechanics are intuitive but used in creatively challenging ways. My only wish is that you could save tool recipes between runs.

I love a good time loop! This has a cute little story and art, and fun gameplay. Lots of little puzzles to solve and I really liked how finding the secrets and puzzles added to the loop timer. I did run into a few bugs, got stuck once and had to wait for the loop to end, and on multiple occasions I triggered the dupe crystals and was unable to stop them from getting out of hand before I dropped to 1 fps and had to quit the run and lose credit for all I did. It was very frustrating, but overall I really enjoyed the experience!
