About Spectacular Sparky
Rocket Through Space to Blast Baddies and Collect Bounties!
Spectacular Sparky is an action-packed platform/shooter with wacky characters, explosive weapons and boss battles to treasure. Sparky is an adorably insane intergalactic bounty hunter who can dash through obstacles, fire his weapons in any direction and even extend his jumps by flapping his long space-rabbit ears. Each time he brings down a boss, his connected confidante Shigg (half shark, half pig) is ready to point him in the direction of yet another space fugitive.
In the grand tradition of irreverent 1990s video-game heroes, Spectacular Sparky is as sassy as he is fearless. His voice-acted wisecracks and sarcastic jabs tend to get under the skin of his enemies in a most amusing fashion. And his universe is awash with spikes, lava, buzzsaws, super-saturated colors, slick parallax scrolling and mega-driven music, the way every game ought to be.
Features
• A modern homage to the golden age of white-gloved 16-bit video-game mascots
• Dozens of delightful story scenes featuring full voice acting and a host of outrageous characters
• Five challenging worlds with 24 levels, each with a bombastic boss battle at the end
• Five powerful weapon types, including blasters, flamethrowers and homing missiles
• Five unique vehicles that Sparky can pilot, including a spaceship, hang glider and lava jet ski
• Five difficulty settings, from Supercasual to Supernightmare
• Three game modes (What?! Not five?)

Overview/Pros: Short and sweet, but a good time! The controls, pixel art, and level design are done very well and make for a really fun game. I'd go into more detail but I don't think it's even necessary. If this looks like a game you think you'd like then I promise you that you'll like it. I'm not super big on shooters or games with shoot em up sections but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game! Cons: A bit too much dialogue. There is one level that is a shoot em up section where the main character is talking to someone and the dialogue box takes up the bottom of the screen for way too long with no way to skip it. But that is me nitpicking and every other instance of dialogue you can skip it. **Recommend/Thumbs Up!
A shorter yet still challenging platformer. Makes me nostalgic of the time I spent with "Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit". Spectacular Sparky bleeds ADHD charm from its core. With music I never muted for my own flavor, a story board set to ultaviolence, and reasonable achievements. This FreakZone game is sure to get your freak flag flying.
Spectacular Sparky has the vibe of a classic Genesis-era scrolling shooter, similar to Gunstar Heroes. The game has an open ended quality to its design, as you have not just standard action stages but flying ship shoot em up levels and parts where you ride animals to proceed. What really sets this game apart from the glut of other similar indie shooters is the personality. Sparky is a pretty funny character and some of the dialogue is hilarious. The voice work and sound design in general is also really well done. There are tons of boss fights and you meet up with bosses you've defeated later for a rematch which I found to be a lot of fun. The game is decent length compared to other scrolling shooter games, but it also happens to be super easy and lacks replayability. Once you beat the game, there's a time trial mode with no achievements attached and "Frenzy mode" which sounds like it will be hard but is actually easier than the original mode. This is because while your health slowly drains you also get infinite hover and your gun has no cooldown. As a result, you can pummel enemies nonstop and the final boss is even easier since the lack of cooldown practically instakills him. …
cool game destroy and shoot everything
A fun arcade shooter! Lots of classic references and homages. If you're a fan of treasure games or old school SEGA you're going to lover Spectacular Sparky!
fine little game, but one of the shortest games ive ever played too the game gets worse on average as it goes on, with the game just spamming more and more enemies on screen, its mostly manageable but sometimes it feels impossible to properly dodge everything its throwing at you bosses are alright, simple but they do the job, really not much to say about this game and for some reason they hired arin hanson to do some of the voice work, despite him not being a very good voice actor, everyone else does a decent job for what i assume is meant to be a very intentionally cheesy set of performances meant to be overly exaggerated parody the fact there's a curvy furry wolf oc character amongst everyone else in the game being so grotesque and unnatural is probably the funniest joke in the whole game 6/10
