About Sporbs
Sporbs is a satisfying, moreish incremental game with a corporate mining twist. Hover your cursor to extract resources and synthesise fuel cells to explore previously inaccessible sectors and earn your ticket home. Just remember - machinery doesn't need sleep, and efficiency will be rewarded.Simply hover your mouse over organisms to harvest resources from them. No clicking needed. No timers.
A nav-malfunction has dumped you and your crew in uncharted space. You decide to take refuge on a nearby planet. Instead of a rescue party, Head Office has a new directive: begin a full-scale harvest of the planet's mysterious, energy-dense organisms.
Features
- Unique combo mode: When activated grants a multiplier to the resources harvested. Aim for higher value targets whilst in a combo to maximise your harvest - efficiency will be rewarded.
- Skill Tree Progression: Spend your resources in a large skill tree with over 170 upgrades that will improve your extraction beams, influence organism spawn rates, unlock unique abilities, automate your harvesting and boost factory efficiency
- The Fuel Factory: Deposit harvested Orbs and Spores to synthesise Fuel Cells. The factory can be automated and the efficiency improved with upgrades in the skill tree
- Idle mechanics: You can unlock idle harvesting, and factory automation, so, you can sit back and watch those numbers go up
- Discover New Areas: Spend Fuel Cells to unlock new areas with higher organism densities and new organisms with unique abilities to harvest from and upgrade
- Aesthetic & Atmosphere: Art, SFX and music made by me (No AI) :0
- Steam Achievements: 20 Steam achievements to be completed
- Music for Sporbs: A complete unique soundtrack for Sporbs is available (again, no AI used)
An incremental where the mechanics work on paper, but the execution never feels rewarding.
Sporbs is an active incremental built around moving your mouse over "sporbs" to hatch them. While the core idea is decent, the game never really clicked for me. I've enjoyed similar mechanics in other games, so the concept itself isn't the issue. The gameplay feels sluggish from beginning to end, and the upgrades never deliver the satisfying power spikes I kept expecting. Many of them sound exciting on paper, but in practice they have far less impact than they suggest. The audiovisual feedback also lacks punch. Sound effects are muffled, visual effects are subtle, and many upgrades are surprisingly difficult to notice. The game constantly asks for active input without making that activity feel rewarding. There is also a momentum mechanic where, after building up enough momentum, you receive a large temporary bonus. While this sounds interesting, it mostly results in long periods of waiting for the meter to cool down and build back up again. During this downtime, you're encouraged to save the largest "sporbs" for the next momentum phase, leaving you with very little to do while you…1 found this helpful
The relaxing sci fi atmosphere and smooth progression make it very easy to lose track of time while you build up your resources and watch your momentum meter climb. As you advance, the loop becomes even more engaging when you start upgrading your extraction tech and unlocking unique abilities. Expanding into new areas and fully automating your own factory to maximize your overall yield provides a great sense of accomplishment. It is a casual experience to dive into when you just want to unwind and enjoy a steady progression system.1 found this helpful
Charming, sweet, short but could use a little more variety in gameplay.1 found this helpful
It's alright. 7/10 for it's price.
A chill take on an incremental game, I enjoyed my time with it.
