What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise STANDBY as a tight, well-designed precision platformer with smooth mechanics and solid level design that rewards skill and practice, though some note its minimalist presentation and intense difficulty curve may not appeal to everyone. The game's focus on speed, timing, and memorization creates an engaging challenge for those seeking a classic arcade-style experience, but its punishing difficulty and relentless pace frustrate players looking for a more accessible or narrative-driven experience.
Super minimalistic platformer with simple yet very challenging controls. Different action depending on the direction player is pressing. Movement is butter smooth and relatively quick. Visuals are tiny bitsy but gameplay is solid. Completing each stage requires some skill and later on game gets really tough. Despite simplistic nature of this one I like it!
5 found this helpful
STANDBY, developed and published by Noclip, is a high-intensity precision platformer built around speed, repetition, and mastery. From its opening moments, the game makes its priorities unmistakably clear: movement must be sharp, reactions must be immediate, and mistakes will be punished without hesitation. There is no elaborate narrative setup or world-building to ease players into the experience. Instead, it throws them directly into a succession of tightly designed levels where success depends entirely on timing, reflexes, and memorization. The gameplay revolves around constant forward momentum. Players sprint automatically, and the challenge lies in executing perfectly timed jumps, slides, wall-runs, and teleports to navigate a gauntlet of spikes, slopes, and shifting obstacles. Instant death is common, but respawns are immediate, creating a rapid trial-and-error loop that encourages persistence rather than discouragement. The rhythm of failure and retry becomes part of the experience’s identity. Over time, what initially feels chaotic begins to reveal patterns, and sections that once seemed impossible can be cleared fluidly through muscle memory and refined input.
