About StandPoint

A labyrinth fades into view; a space you control but that holds you. Completely lost with nowhere else you could be.

Standpoint is a first-person puzzle platformer where the player possesses the ability to change the orientation of the world. Explore the labyrinth-like environment, solving puzzles and collecting secrets, in order to overcome the stages of Grief. And ask yourself, do the narrator's cryptic clues to the world hide some deeper sentiment?

With every wall potentially the floor, take advantage of the variety of ways to approach obstacles. Turn a perilous corridor of lasers into a simple pit. Break through barriers as you drift through the tunnels. Even use death to your advantage. When up can become down at any moment, will you fly or fall?

Key Features:

  • Explore physical manifestations of the stages of grief, as your environment changes to reflect the emotions
  • Ponder puzzles which need a whole new way of thinking
  • Experience the dynamic soundtrack as it reacts to your movements
  • Take advantage of game elements to conquer the time-trial Leaderboards.

Caught in a nightmare. This game has neither an interesting monologue, nor an interesting "puzzle" mechanic. Graphics are fine, but all else seems to fail: - the annoying Irish(?) monologuing gets grating real quickly; if you're gonna tell a story don't make me want to shoot myself whilst my frustration levels are already increasing with your game. - some of the music is grating as well, and gets on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. - once I got to the third level/section/whatever you want to call it, I started to feel the challenge, which I could have expected, and then the green orbs came along soon after, and I both had no idea what was going on, but it also made me feel green, and want to hurl. Really, I'm going on this existential ride through boring looking corridors, hoping the woman in my ears would shut up, and that I could understand what this meaningless fall through a rabbit-hole was all for. Not sure I'll continue playing, it's really not enjoyable for me, and if I want a philosophical meander, there are already enough First-Person walking sims and adventure games out there that make you ate least feel like a human, not just some thing in a maze. Nothing …

As is, the game is a mess. Visual and aural attack on your senses. Mechanically it's but after an hour of being bombarded by the audio and the odd choice of weird textures while doing what is virtually the same puzzle over and over I have quite enough. I appreciate what seems to be a solo dev effort but this needs a lot of work to be approachable. I know it's an older game but it does not seem to be at 2015 levels either.

I tried twice to get into this game and I just couldn't do it. Controls feel clunky, viewing angles feel unnecessarily restrictive given the core gameplay demands that you look in every direction, gravity switching rotates your viewpoint making it difficult to react quickly... the narrative is barely there, and generally feels more distracting than interesting. The sound design is all a bit uncomfortably tinny. The visuals are ugly and uncommunicative. Even as a lover of first person puzzle games and high concept / low production value indie auteur pieces like this, I was unable to wring any enjoyment out of this piece. I could sense that some real passion went into this, but I don't think it was enough to carry the project anywhere interesting.

Standpoint is a hardcore platformer with some puzzle elements . Emphasis is on quick reactions and split second decision making and on top of that the game is one of those where you don't know where the floor and ceiling are so it purposely makes you disoriented. On top of that the game is like Dante's Inferno, unsettling music adds to the feeling of anxiety and depression. The look of the game also adds to the overall horror feel. I never played a game like this and I liked it in some aspects but I couldn't finish it, in fact I got to chapter called Anger Pt 4 and I can tell you my anger was at 100. The reason for that is that I suck at this game but my anger was in large part directed to the feeling of what this game could've been. Large potential but some decisions are just questionable. If you make a game like this your audience is small but the developers tried to stuff to many thing into one game and in the end that resulted in people not wanting to play the game. Only 7.7 % of players got to Anger Pt 5 (that would be half the game) and 4 % finished the game...that says a lot . I will recommend this game BUT ONLY if you want to torture yourself because this game is uber hard …

I thought the game was ok with a few annoyances such as the annoying sounds/voiceover, obstacles blending into each other because they are all translucent and bright which makes them invisible extremely often, the pop in for some walls being deathtraps (they look like a normal wall until you are about 5 feet from them) and the pickup item being the same button as the change gravity button was also sometimes obnoxious then I got to bargaining part 1 and got stuck because I literally have no clue what to do. you get to a dead end set of interconnected tunnels which is sort of like a big room with huge pillars in it (some lasers are spanning between the pillars) and there are 5 closed doors (6 if you count the entrance/savespot) and nothing else, no button, no gravity doors, only patterns on the floor telling you which way to go and even when followed they do nothing, none of the doors open, nothing happens (I even tried looking up a walkthrough but none exist that I could find) so it's a dead end which is how I'm gonna rate this game

Just brilliant. A very fun, extremely interesting, upbeat puzzle game about gravity manipulation. I felt happy just by getting into the game and hearing the music play.
