About Star Chart
Step into your very own Virtual Reality Planetarium! Star Chart lets you explore the solar system and night sky in a beautiful and accurate real-time simulation.
*** Star Chart supports VR through the Vive or Oculus Rift, while regular desktop use is also supported ***
We're proud to bring to you the hugely successful astronomy & star gazing app - Star Chart - downloaded by over 20 million people world-wide.
Delight in exploring the solar system, from the Sun to the smallest moons of Saturn and out to the coldest, darkest, farthest reaches of Pluto. Gaze down and marvel at our solar system from above. Look up in wonder at the rings of Saturn. Feel the awe of floating in space around worlds no human has yet set foot on. Understand how the constellations of our night sky are made up of stars distant to each other in both space and time. Embrace the impossible distances of our solar system and the inordinate scale of our universe.
Star Chart currently includes:
- An accurate real-time simulation of the visible stars and planets as you see them from Earth
- A 3D solar system to explore, including the Sun, the planets, major moons and more
- A Sky View mode that recreates your view of the night sky from your own GPS coordinates
- All 88 constellations based on the beautiful artwork of 17th century astronomer Johannes Hevelius
- IAU Named rocky planet surface details.
What better way to learn about the night sky and astronomy than to immerse yourself as a virtual astronaut travelling through space. This experience is the perfect way for both the young and old to let their inner child experience the thrills of embracing the final frontier.
Please NOTE:
- Star Chart requires hardware to be viewed in Virtual Reality - ie either a Vive or Oculus Rift.
- Written from the ground up for Virtual Reality, this version of Star Chart is in many ways a superior product to that on iOS / Android / Windows 8 and more. But please do not expect full feature parity yet. We will continue to develop and enhance Star Chart over time, and we hope that soon Star Chart will reach parity with our other versions. But please note that there are no promises as to which features we will include nor when.
Feel free to provide us with your thoughts, feedback and feature requests. And for help using Star Chart in VR please see the Virtual Reality section of our Star Chart User Guide: www.escapistgames.com/starchart/instruction_manual.html

I don't understand the negative responses to this game. There's another game that's quite similar called "Stars", which is 15 dollars and rated higher, but this has much more content. I was trying them out as aides for my Astronomy class and this one seems to have everything I need: detailed information about planet and star locations, types, sizes, and distances, in addition to lots of other info. It even shows the boundaries of constellations on the celestial sphere. Everything is pretty intuitive, and there's even a throrough tutorial to walk you through the controls.4 found this helpful
Project seems abandoned, stars aren't even in the correct positions in the sky. No responses to questions in the discussions page. No way to adjust the time date and location anywhere in the app.2 found this helpful
Although there is a message that many updates are coming, as it is currently I cannot recommend this. I'm not sure I have ever had the displeasure of having an app with such horrid controller usage. Talk about user hostile interface and nothing working right. Why can't it just allow one to fly around in space. Unless this improves about 400% there is no sense at all in playing/running this experience. I hate having to leave negative reviews, but really, why have a paid app when it is not even what I would consider an alpha release, more like pre-alpha.1 found this helpful
Great experience, awesome sale. I like Spacetours VR a lot. I like this too. Gonna try some more...1 found this helpful
LOVE IT! worth all the pennies. Would like to see my own city on the Earth but my trip to Mars was, noice.1 found this helpful
Has or I should say, had potential. This seems to be totally abandoned. I still liked it for what it is. Some things seem to be incorrect such as labeling Neptune and Uranus as gas giants instead of Ice giants. Controls and ability to find things arent super intuitive and could be worked on some. Traveling could be faster. I still like this but if your looking for a hardcore space simulation maybe look elsewhere as this seems to no longer be updating for years now. If you want to try this out buy it if it ever goes on sale.
