Cool little soulslike to play when bored. I get that the game was a student project but the use of AI for the items and speech kind of took me out of the atmosphere of the game. Other then that the combat felt satisfying and fun, The bosses though a little jank at times were fun especially the lady Elizabeth fight (man was she a pain to beat). I would recommend to anyone that's a fan of dark souls that can look past the AI use and the bugginess1 found this helpful
A very simple,
three
boss rush game. Not really much of a learning curve, though it shouldn't prove a huge obstacle for any Souls veteran. People looking for a walk in the park will probably find the game rather difficult. It's not stellar, but I wasn't dissatisfied with the time I spent with the game. For being as short a game as it is, there's obviously no expansion on bits and pieces of lore hinted at, but there's enough to give you an idea that there is a wider world surrounding the characters, and that's honestly enough. I don't give it an especially high recommendation, but I enjoyed it and there are definitely others who will as well.
Immediate down vote. First boss has some secret trick to beat. It is the tutorial boss. No idea what to do. This is how they introduce the game. Wow.... once again we have devs who can manage to put together a competently built game with decent movement and souls like combat, and then just ruin it with obtuse nonsense because they are too autistic to relate to normal people. This is the sort of absolute mind boggling trash that makes me want to give up on gaming all together.
I won't be to harsh on the devs, Just because it was a school project, However- That doesn't mean they're not at fault for a lot of problems! First, The game looks great. But that's mostly due to UE5 (Which runs pretty well) The combat and story is solid. Which is great, I hope that was a big part of thier final grade! The level design is pretty good as well. As for the problems, First- You can't upgrade anything, As there is no currency to do so or upgrade items! And that makes the game much more difficult. Secondly, The combat. Which is very solid, But doesn't allow you to mix up different styles. again- making the game much more difficult! Healing exists, But it's very odd.. Akwardly taking a bloodborne approch favoring haste, But not executed the same way.. It's a damn good game for a project, Which the poor studends were clearly rushed on! So it's getting a positive.. Honestly, it's mixed (Valve! Add a mixed option)
does not deserve to be mixed. Solid free bossrush
