Summoners War: RUSH is a surprisingly busy idle RPG, and I liked how it combines monster collection with tower defense rather than sticking to only one formula. I build a team of monsters, strengthen them and send them against increasingly difficult enemies. The familiar fantasy setting helps make the game easy to understand, but the defense mode gives the basic progression a little more variety. The main stage mode is built around pushing through battles and dealing with stronger bosses as I progress. I enjoyed paying attention to enemy weaknesses and making changes to my monster lineup when my current team stopped working well. The idle elements make progression convenient because I do not have to control every part of every fight, but there is still enough team building to keep me involved. The Sky Island Defense mode is probably the part I enjoyed most. Here I can place monsters strategically and use skill cards while enemies move through the battlefield. I liked having to think more actively about positioning and timing, because it gives me a break from the more automatic side of the game.
