It is genuinely a crime that this game is not getting more attention. In a world where Observation Duty Games are flood the market, Surveillance Work stands out as one of the better ones. This comes mostly due to the story mode. While other games have a story, its normally bare bones. In Surveillance Work, you make choices thru Surveillance Work similar to that of Papers, Please, allocating money you earn from reporting anomolies to Food and Housing, as well any luxury extras. How well you do during the nights, what you buy, and any choices you make during the process (such as ignore obvious anomolies) contributes to obtaining 1 of 32 endings. As for the actual gameplay, they did a lot of things right. Clicking on objects in the enviroment will highlight them, while holding on them will report it. I really like this method as the first time playing levels you can highlight items to help you see exactly what items you should be paying attention to, along with helping count items like on books on shelves. Another thing I like is that failing a level does not mean you cannot continue the story. It simply means you failed that night, and will likely contribute to the ending. Last update made this much more english friendly, All in all its close to the Observation duty games, but if youve gotten used to them this should be something to check out, the story mode includes a wage/bills/food and Extras that make trying not to mess up a bit more or less important if you can make enough money. So far the game provides a challenge, the suspicious and stalker report choices tend to catch you offguard, but i have yet to actually startled by the Humanoid apperances, yes some are on a react now or die setup, but several are less unnerving then the scenery. This title definetly can be a contender in the horror find the difference niche, but for now it lacks the unnerving and viceral edge, there shouldnt be any problem allowing all ages to play this. I would love to see the antagonists be more abnormal. glowing eyes, faceless/masked(listed both because im not sure which it was meant to appear as) inmates, and being drawn towards them... just fun. Distorted, unproportioned, oversized smiling exposing too many teeth, a growling or movement near or in someplace too dark too see, the "Fast, hitching, bending movements a human shouldnt be able to make. I've got mixed feelings for this game. A 'I'm On Observation Duty'-like game, but with lore that got introduced in later updates. I'm not a big fan of the updated 'search' game mode, where you get access to various files related to the events of the Surveillance Work. Thankfully the dev released a discussion on how to fully obtain every hint and clue to unlock each element, but for some it might feel tedious work.
