It's a short and nice game... 3.6h It has problems (especially in situations where it tries to make two text boxes at the same time) and also that the text boxes don't stop the game... If this happens, you have to restart the level (it only happens at the beginning of the first level or the beginning of the last) In addition, you should know that in the last battle you have to wait for the eye to cast its magic and only then kill it.... It's not too hard and the game is free. So I recommend trying it.

"Sword of Atlas" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from University of Utah in the US. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a JRPG styled RPG with grid orientated turn based combat. This is fine and could have been really popular but the visuals are a let down and of course, as a student project, this isn't a fully fleshed out game. This is quite solid for a game built within two college semesters. It makes me think of this game as a younger sibling of Final Fantasy Tactics. The movement/battle system is a bit clunky with mouse click selection, though it's easy to get over. I would have to say that some of the battles, especially the final battle, had some quirks which could be ironed out to make it a bit more intuitive. For a 2ish hour game, it was quite fun, and I had a good time attempting to Achievement Hunt it. Well done to the developers for creating something short, sweet, and fun! The musical pieces were excellent choices; it shows that you understand ambiance and gravity of a scene well. The designs for the characters, both pixelated and hand drawn, are lovely and fit the characters. I was surprised that there was VA fully in the game. I normally don't see small pocket games like this have VA, so it was a real treat. This game is a great start to a potential expanded, deep plot. I hope to see something more from the team in the future.
