SYNAPTIC DRIVE

I'm sorry, I've tried really hard to like this game but I cannot recommend it right now to anyone. It may have some pretty good controls and ideas but it lacks a LOT of polish. The online sadly isn't that good at the moment and the game's balancing is iffy (but then again, what Custom Robo game doesn't have iffy balancing). Maybe in due time, it will improve but where it stands right now, you're better off waiting. YEARS LATER lol this game still sucks and it has been abandoned

Wanted to like this game but just can't. It's way too unpolished. Idk if I would forgive this even if it were early access. There's no impact to anything. You wonder half the time if you even hit your opponent. Unlocking everything is a tedious slog. Without any sort of story mode, you're forced to grind out arcade battles vs AI opponents. IMO some combinations put so much stuff on screen that it's basically impossible to dodge it which makes the game feel sort of mindless. Overall, I do think the game had some potential but given the unpolished visuals, the tedious unlocking process and the poor balancing I can't recommend it in its current state.

I really wanted to love this game. In a lot of ways, I do. Mechanics are solid, loads of customization options, there's something for everyone, playstyle-wise. I like how the game looks, the arenas are good. Good stuff. The game FEELS good to play, and it's a lot of fun trying new parts to refine your own playstyle. ... But I absolutely cannot recommend the game in it's current state. There's only battles with CPU's or online play. No story mode or anything like that. Which while it wouldn't do much for a fighting game, the online play is just so messed up. Even in a local game with both of us connected to the same router there was lag. Netplay over wifi isn't much better. tldr: Game is fun and has loads of promise, but doesn't have much to do, and online play is not good. I hope the devs continue working on the game and improve on it, like Battle for the Grid did

Holy cow this game is unpolished. Your connection is unstable

Synaptic Drive successfully brings back the old Custom Robo fun with a fresh reimagining of its old mechanics. The complexity required to create a "good" set of equipment brings a lot of challenge to the game before the player can have fun in a sense, but its backed by solid gameplay. My major complaint is unlike its ancestors, Synaptic Drive has no RPG elements- it is solely an arena fighter. And to my friends in the U.S.- it may be hard to find a game online.

This game is a lot of fun. It definitely appeals to Custom Robo fans in a nostalgic way. The game is very fast paced and always feels like a slugfest of attacks. Homing on parts is really strong meaning the game focuses more on hit confirms and trading than Custom Robo did. As of the writing of this comment, devs still need to fix some bugs and possibly the damage output of ults. If you are not a die hard Custom Robo/3D projectile Arena Fighter fan, you might want to wait a little while before purchasing. I do not regret my day one purchase at all as I have been having a lot of fun with this game.
