About Tamagoneko

Mischievous kitten eggs have escaped from the home nest!
As a small white Cat, it's up to you to find and return all of them back to safety, because the world is not friendly out there! Spikes, saws and bottomless pits are just a small part of what the Cat has to face on the journey to save the kitten eggs.
  • A huge world to go through:
The kitten eggs have scattered all around the world! You will jump and climb through 160+ unique hand-crafted levels in 7 worlds in order to rescue them. Wild plains, thorny deserts, crystal caverns: each world comes with different design, distinctive levels and new gameplay mechanics.
  • Complex level design:
Created with inspiration from Super Meat Boy, Celeste and Kaizo Mario, these fast-paced levels challenge your understanding of the Cat's movement and game mechanics. Some of them also require good execution, so it won't be easy, but won't be boring either!
  • Dozen of interactive elements:
Balloons can bounce you up, platforms fall down (usually), stompers will squish you and coins always show the right way. Learn how to make them all helpful!
  • Refined character movement:
Jumping is not the only thing cats are good at! Crawl through narrow passages, climb on steep walls and even double jump your way to new heights. Utilize these moves in combination with different level elements to overcome even the toughest obstacles!
  • Achievements and Cat customization:
Spend your hard-earned coins and complete achievements to get colorful upgrades for the Cat! You can unlock more than 50 various skins, trails and effects and combine them to create your own stylish character.
  • Friendly for speedrunners:
Tamagoneko tracks individual level times and total time spent completing the game. Can you beat it faster than anyone in the world?
  • Secret stuff:
Each level contains a secret fruit for additional challenge. You get something cool after collecting enough of them, but don't dig too deep...

You'd probably be confused why I put so much time into a game like this and gave it a not recommended. This is because it's such a weirdly interesting game in its flaws that I kept wanting to keep going. If it was just bad I would've given up but it's interestingly bad and even fun some time. It was this back and forth I had from this game is really interesting to this game kinda sucks, but never really in between? Let's start with what I like. The cosmetics are fun, a little grindy to get a lot of them but they're neat and look nice. I think that when the game gives you some space to breath, it often comes up with some fun levels. There was a reason I kept coming back and it ultimately was because of the levels. I also do think levels about climbing along the fences and walls are actually interesting and fairly unique. And then there's the bad. The first, and easily worst aspect of the game, are the weirdly floaty and slippery controls. Your character will just sail across and keep any momentum. Not inherently bad but man just tapping a direction in the air could launch you right into a hazard. Which is an issue cause ultimately this game wants to be a precision platformer. Someti…

This is a precision platformer with a main character that just does not belong here. Air resistance does not exist, the cat doesn't slow down mid-air and this alone makes the physics very unenjoyable. When the only way to reliably control off-the-ground movement is to do small taps in the opposite direction to reset speed, you know something is wrong. Droppers are basically impossible without this. Level design is alright. Not great, not terrible. All secret collectibles follow the same "Figure out where is the hidden passage in the wall" principle which gets dull fast. Finished the first 2 worlds, wasn't that hard for me being experienced in the genre and don't see myself coming back to the game. Tamagoneko has potential and is in great need of rework.

This game was very fun to 100%! As a precision platformer enjoyer i had a really great time with this. The controls are pretty floaty and VERY fast so it takes a bit to get the hang of, but when you eventually do it feels very satisfying. World 7 was the most enjoyable for me. There were a few gimmicks that were a bit annoying, but aside from those few levels the world as a whole was really fun and interesting. I definitely recommend this to anybody who enjoyed other games like Super Meat Boy for their very difficult levels.
