NekoNecro is an indie retro precision platformer. It's graphics are hand drawn in a comic book style, with a little bit of Yoshi's Island thrown into the mix. You'll run, jump, and pounce your way through multiple worlds and 50 levels. I bought this due to following the developer's and publisher's YouTube channels, and wanting to continue to support an independent project. PROS + The graphics are amazing. The visual style is distinct and memorable. You can tell it's hand drawn. + As with the developer's previous outing (Quickly, Quackley), the difficulty curve here is excellent. Core concepts are expertly introduced and built upon throughout the game. + The soundtrack is great, and fits well with the game's lighthearted, cartoon style. CONS - NekoNecro is a short game. I'm at just over 3 hours, and I suspect going back to grab all the collectibles will put me at 4.5 - 5 hours, tops. - Hand drawn graphics include hand drawn backgrounds and foregrounds. Sometimes it is hard to differentiate when there is a lot going on. (Backgrounds can be turned off) NITPICKS & YMMV ~ I really with the down button had a ducking animation, not for gameplay reasons, …1 found this helpful
if Jhonen Vasquez/Jamie smart made a 2d platformer, meant in the best way
A fun little platformer that harken back to brutal one-life level design and classic momentum-base movement while all packed up with a cool ink-and-paper style! There's also plenty of levels to play with a variety of environments, enemies, and even boss battles. The accessibility options are also a nice touch (I found it moving quite quickly so slowed down the game speed.) Just a couple points of feedback though: -Consistent crashing after 15 - 20 minutes of play -Restart level feels like a couple seconds too long -An option to adjust SFX volume would've been nice too!
Cute platformer with some amazing art! Can be challenging but ultimately it's fair and reasonable to figure out how to get through the obstacles.
I'm only 22% through at the moment. I haven't enjoyed a game as much in along time. I'm not great at it and need quite a few retrys, but I cant help to keep going till I get to the exit. Even though I loved Super Meat boy I didn't have the want to finish the levels like I do with this game.
this game is good, however if i only mentioned the good my review would look the same as every one elses reviews, so I am going to talk about the negatives, hopefully being informative to player/customer and constructive to the developer (who is a very cool person). the immediate first thing i noticed after starting the game was how sharp and piercing some of the sfx were, i tried on both pc and steam deck (steam deck first) and the steam deck was a lot worse partly because of how loud the high end of those speakers are, and i got a headache from playing, my solution was to turn up the music and then turn down the system volume, this will probably not effect you too badly though if you are playing on pc this is an issue with a "get good" solution, but i should mention it anyway. with how often i die in these kind of games i feel the respawn should be near instant like how will you snail does it, but the respawning in this game waits a little bit and then does a complete reload of the whole level, and this makes me spend more time waiting to play than actually playing during my first 5 to 15 attempts. this game has a beautiful art style, however there were a few (maybe 4) times i…
