I've played a couple hours so far, and... all in all? Taxi Chaos 2 does the same thing that Taxi Chaos 1 did: re-introduce the Crazy Taxi formula to modern game players - but Taxi Chaos 2 does it a little better. The Crazy Taxi formula remains the same, but while Taxi Chaos 1 was almost TOO similar to Crazy Taxi, Taxi Chaos 2 adds a couple new variations and gameplay mechanics that (for me) give the game more staying power than the original Crazy Taxi ever had, and I've enjoyed handling them as I go from point to point. I will say that the controls feel very arcade-y (in particular, the way that the taxi cabs turn and the sheer bounciness of the default taxi when you collide with things) but I was able to get used to them fairly easily - and besides, I don't think I can really cast shade on the devs for having arcade controls in their game that is, quite literally, a(nother) love letter to an arcade game. Like... for better or for worse, the taxi cabs still feel like they're from Crazy Taxi, and if you don't know what that's like... well, it's not like GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, or any "realistic" driving game. Played around two hours at time of writing this and I'm still enjoying it! It's basically Crazy Taxi with car upgrades and a story (or there's also an arcade mode you can play, which is more like CT). It's a huge upgrade from Taxi Chaos 1, I think. Graphics are improved and there's a lot more depth to the game. Physics are fun, it sounds good, only had minor issues so far (UI issue with text not displaying properly on the mission summary at 3440x1440).. I'm really enjoying it! .. there is a good game beneath all the jank. I recommend using the reset button (holding left on the d-pad) to get unstuck from any annoying geometry.2 found this helpful
I’ve been having a good time with the game for the time I played. I played the demo as well and I'm enjoying the release even more. It definetely is a clear improvement over the first game. What stands out the most to me is the dynamic map. Construction sites appear, roads get blocked, and sometimes you’re forced to take a different path. Additonally the game uses fun special customers, like a rocket customer. Wish more interesting customers appeared at the start of the game. I saw some footage online of cannon customers you use to fight the taxi bots, but I haven't seen them my self yet. One problem I had was vehicle control on keyboard. Steering feels a bit slow to respond, which makes tight turns harder than they should be and takes some time to get used to. The game does say to use a controller for the best experience, but I like to play with the keyboard. It seems like the devs are quite invested in updating the game. I hope to see more content in the future. Overall the game is a very nice casual, pick up and play game.2 found this helpful
