Good idea, cool artstyle Badly executed.... Pros: +Cool artstyle +Simple enough controls Cons: -The enemy placement on your own songs is completely random, this game would've been much better with manual charting and workshop support rather than automatically generated. -Songs with lots of time signature changes basically are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ -Ranking is based on the bpm of the song (ex a 135 bpm song will be ranked in the same list as 131-140 bpm songs along with different difficulties in the same leaderboard) -Tapping to sync should happen before the song starts instead of the beginning because tapping only a few times doesn't really feel like you're getting the rhythm of the song completely down -Weak tutorial that just skips through not telling you if you did a thing right or wrong (it passes you as soon as you kill the enemies in each section of the tutorial) -Inconsistent hits even after calibration Asking price is wayyyyy too high for what it is. If a music game with horrible generation and hit detection is your thing then wait for a massive sale before biting.... straight up not even close to being worth $20. I can't refund, don't make my mistake.11 found this helpful
Tried uploading a custom track for an hour (all my game time is me trying that) and it does not work.
Could be a good game but misses the mark where most rhythm games do -- the custom track and calibration features. The calibration feels extremely off as there is no way to account for visual latency vs audio latency. These are two separate problems that every rhythm game has to take into account in order for the experience to be enjoyable for players regardless of their monitor, graphics card, or sound card specs. Additionally, when loading a custom track (whenever it does happen to work), the BPM is always off the mark and there is no way to change it at all. Disappointed but, not surprised. Refunded.
There was no terror in my rhythm
"Easy to Learn, Hard to Master" game. First of all, I love the art style! There was a lot of cool design in the different backgrounds and animation. Also the weapons - (that you’ll get from enemies) - katanas, throwing discs and a giant reaper scythe that looks cool as hell as you slice down enemies). The music is also brilliant! Every single track here is big and thumping and geared towards making you want to move. WIthin seconds of starting up the first level, I found myself bopping along in my seat, and that set the tone for every other level. BTW, you also can add in your own songs. The controls are simple, but the variety of appearances with NPCs, items and hit combos are something to be reckoned with, and require a bit of trial and error, especially with later stages. The harder difficulty levels an absolute nightmare (more enemies, harder hits, fewer chances to not die). That's great! Enough of a grab to continue replaying for higher scores both locally and potentially against friends online. I've found that the game is available for Nintendo Switch, so I got this version too! CONS. Sometimes it felt like the game was lacking in feedback. I would also wish to see …
It pains me to write a negative review for this game, but in its current state, TERRORHYTHM is just not that enjoyable Don't get me wrong, being a fan of rhythm games, I like this game and see great potential for it, but there are a couple major issues that prevent me from truly enjoying the game
Messy calibration system
Other reviewers have covered how this feature breaks when you use controllers, but since I've never used a controller for this game, I'll let you read those reviews for more accurate information. However, there is still something else that is rather done poorly. The calibration system is supposed to measure your delay and help you make more accurate keystrokes/controller presses, but the system does not do a good job at doing this. Instead of a metronome style test with a simple click or beep, it just puts some music and a visual cue, neither of which are even close to matching. There is an incredibly large offset between the audio and visual cues, I've had my tests be thrown off into the ~220ms region because of this. Once I learned that it was only the visual cue that mattered, I was able to drop it back down to the double digits. [i]If you're doin…
