About The Call of Krul'ar

Survive the horrors of the unknown as you expand your lands to keep from being dragged into the darkness; and devoured by that which lurks inside. Every time you make an action, the world around moves forward too. So be strategic in your choices, and be sure they are worth it.
COLLECT
- Time moves with you.
- When you make an action, the world around you also moves forward. So be careful with your actions.
- And to help you manage time, place your workers to help collect resources.

COMBINE
- Discover and Collect various cards found on the islands to Combine them into structures and to expand your lands.
- With the more resources you collect and combine, the more you can build from collecting and combining.

EXPAND
- Build up your kingdom to the right as you craft new islands, and keep from being swallowed by the darkness that is always moving closer from the left.
- The more you expand your lands, the further the distance between you and the darkness.

DEFEND
- Send out your soldiers to bide for more time.
- Make units from your structures as you expand, and place them on the front-lines to fight off the enemies that appear from the darkness.
- But be wary of the different beings that will appear...

A DIRE WARNING
Not much is known of all the creatures from the darkness, and you may have to learn how to deal with them on your own.
And you can escape... But how to do so is unknown, as those who have lived have all lost their minds.
The only advice that can be given to prepare you is the basics of surviving in this land.
Collect, Combine, Expand, and Defend.
But... do not think light of such simple instructions.
Survival is far more an arduous task than one would first assume.
As there have been tales of others being dragged into the darkness.
So make a goal of not underestimating this world...
Less you too become another tale of hubris and woe...
And another tale of one that has been taken by... THE CALL OF KRUL'AR!

I enjoyed learning the game mechanics. Not sure how to classify it, but there is a game demo to try before you buy. Played on an Ubuntu desktop with keyboard and mouse controllers.7 found this helpful
Abandoned by the developer. Don't bother anymore. He won't even release a bug fix patch for the current bugs that effectively makes one of his building useless even though he's aware of it (watch tower bug). Good game idea, sadly abandoned.4 found this helpful

Absolutely wonderful presentation. The pixel art, the "damaged" cards, the sound effects, and the eldritch horror ambiance. The dev absolutely nails it. The game has survival colony sim elements, which of course boils down to managing a few core resources (four at first, and a few others you'll run into as you go, plus combinations/refining) with most actions taking a "turn" in the day. The real allure to me was the sense of adventure, trying to figure out new recipes, all with that impending gloom, the inescapable all-devouring maw slowly (and not so slowly) closing in on you, making a towering fortress feel like a sand castle. There's enough going on that it took me a few tries to beat the game-- there's a wonderfully paced amount of complexity that layers on as time goes. For me the pacing felt like my job was to just keep things from slipping out of my hands just enough to-- well, I wont spoil anything more. In true horror fashion , the game doesn't hold your hand. All in all, the largest issue is that it lacks much in terms of replayability, but it's a great way to occupy an evening or two for just $USD 3.1 found this helpful
Good, takes some thinking to just survive
Good, unique, worth your time.
