The Cubiw Dungeon

I have got to play this game as assignment for a subject about playtesting. I didn't think much of it back then, but I gave it a try later and had alot of fun!

The Cubiw Dungeon is one of those roguelike games that looks incredibly simple at first, but I ended up having a lot more fun with it than I expected. I control a little smiling cube that has to fight through a dungeon filled with other cubes, collect items and become stronger with every run. The colorful pixel art gives it a cute appearance, but the amount of projectiles flying around can make things surprisingly chaotic. The combat is easily my favourite part. I have to move around rooms while shooting enemies and avoiding their attacks, and the number of projectiles can get pretty ridiculous as the difficulty increases. I liked that the game makes me pay attention to positioning rather than simply standing still and firing. Rooms are also arranged differently between runs, so I cannot completely rely on memorizing the path. The item system is where the roguelike side really starts to shine. I can pick up different items that change my abilities and stats, and finding combinations that work well together can make a run feel completely different. I really enjoyed seeing how certain upgrades could turn a fairly ordinary build into something much more powerful. There is a nice fee…

Solid RogueLike. It has a pretty good gameplay loop, and some unique ideas
