[h1]THE DARK GIFT[/h1] It is the seventh horror walking simulator game by JustTomcuk developer and the 3rd game set in a Christmas theme. The Dark Gift is a VERY short game with a decent experience. Just like every walking sims out there, the game is VERY linear but the story was quite dark. The scary moments are mostly the jump scares that you get at times but the atmosphere is creepy in itself. The visuals are kinda fine (vhs filter get's annoying honestly), so is the audio. Walking speed is still slow AF. Level design get's the job done while nothing exceptional. The motion blur was slacked a lot in here so there's that! The game supports perfectly UltraWide Screen monitor but no FOV option and no menu. [h1]RECOMMENDATION:[/h1] [b]Yeah, I do recommend this one! If you're in the mood for more Christmas theme horror game, you should give a shot to Silent Nights and Christmas Nightmare by the same developer. The Dark Gift was a solid middle-of-the-pack entry in my quest to find the best Christmas-themed horror games. I played this as part of a holiday horror series, and while it wasn’t my favorite, it definitely wasn’t the worst either. It sits comfortably right in the middle. The story was okay. You play as a man alone in a house who receives a mysterious package on his front porch—which, surprise surprise, turns out to be something deeply disturbing. From there, the game has you piecing together what’s going on and why this “gift” exists in the first place. Gameplay-wise, it was alright. Nothing groundbreaking, but nothing frustrating either. The vibe was fairly creepy and fit the holiday horror theme well enough to keep me engaged, even if it didn’t completely blow me away. Overall, The Dark Gift isn’t a standout, but it’s not a bad game by any means. If you’re putting together a list of Christmas horror games to play around the holidays, I’d say add this one to the rotation and give it a shot. It’s a decent spooky experience that does what it sets out to do. 🎁😬

Cannot move or control character in any way. I load in and then just have to spin around and alt+f4 to exit the game. I have enjoyed the previous games from this dev but this one does not even function.

7/10 Overall the story was very good, but many times I found myself retracing the same steps trying to figure out what was going to happen next. It had some moments I was not expecting and the ending, although not a big surprise, was good.
