About The Fear Business

Whispers of a shadowy satanic cult connected to dozens of missing people have ignited a firestorm of rumors. Some believe the tales are true, while others dismiss them as a hoax. In the wake of a brutal wave of journalist layoffs, Sarah is ready to chase the story no one else dares touch. But as she digs deeper into the horrifying mystery, she’ll soon realize that risking her life for that one shot may be the worst mistake she’s ever made.

A DIRTY JOB BUT SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT

Discover the secrets that lie behind the walls of the Solomon manor in this obscure third person survival horror made by the creators of The Night of the Scissors and Cannibal Abduction, inspired by the satanic panic from the 80s and found footage movies.
  • Experience the fear of being locked with the deadly Goat Face.
  • Find places to hide... Or fight back, if you dare.
  • Interview Black Hill's locals and record as much footage as you can in the free view first person mode.
  • A huge victorian manor to explore, every room is full of interactions, items to collect, things to record, secrets and puzzles.
  • Blow the candles that light the devil shrines for saving your progress, but there's a catch... The manor will become darker every time you do it!
  • Cinematic camera angles and authentic VHS glitches.
  • Learn about the Architect's secrets and discover an incredible plot twist!
  • Contemplate the most horrific creations in an ingame gallery art. Every piece you see was painted by real horror artists!

MULTIPLE GAME MODES!

Enjoy a classic tense survival horror experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat, or pick the scary mode for an experience full of loud jumpscares. Up to a real challenge? Opt for the Deadly mode, which features a more lethal enemy and the key to unlock and even harder difficulty!

I am not someone who enjoys run and hide style horror games very much, but I do love fixed camera style survival horror and I will take a swing at this sort of game because often there's enough there despite my grievances to make it worthwhile - which was the case in both Night of the Scissors and Cannibal Abduction, so I was looking forward to this one. Sadly, although there's a lot I really like here, I find the stalker to be way too hard to shake off in this one and it has driven me to drop it. I will still recommend checking it out for anyone who likes puppet combo games or the games made by this developer previously as I am sure you'll get more out of it than I did. If you want more of a resident evil/silent hill sort of fixed camera game, this is probably not going to do it for you. I was intrigued by the plot, the set up, the level design and the visuals. I do think the inventory size is more of a hinderance than anything else though. The camera and the notebook should probably not take up slots and just let us have 5 slots free. As far as I can tell there's only 1 item box and pretty seriously limited saves so there's just a huge amout of running back and forth and riskin…

The Fear Business is a highly atmospheric, retro horror game that beautifully channels the PS1 era. Playing with classic fixed camera angles delivers a genuinely nostalgic, cinematic tension. While the stalker enemy, Goat Face, can feel a bit more annoying than terrifying, the tight puzzle design and eerie aesthetic make it a deeply satisfying throwback for classic survival horror fans.

my playthrough: https://youtu.be/vlEiVEIrp28 Pretty traditional horror game where you explore a mansion, look for key items/ solve puzzles to advance, and hide from the monster.

Almost a masterpiece. There is one thing that in my opinion is unforgivable: you can only pause the game if you're hiding in a closet. Some of us have to take a ♥♥♥♥ at some point. That's cruel if you're pinching the turtlehead back in its shell and you got a serial goat murderer chasing you while reciting the words to "C is for Cookie".

While still worth playing, it's basically just Cannibal Abduction with a much larger map but a far worse stalker and no real update on the gameplay except defense weapons.

Although I wouldn't recommend The Night of the Scissors or Cannibal Abduction because they're too simple for how familiar they are, I can recommend this game despite it playing on similar indie horror tropes. If you're looking for something super unique, this isn't it, but unlike selewi's other two games this one has enough meat on it to be worth the price. The story isn't the most creative, but it works well enough. The puzzles are one's you've seen before, but it gets the brain going. I think this game just has a large enough scale and just enough complexity of gameplay to make it worth your time. But I think the developer's can make something even greater, and it seems that they are getting better with every game!
