What kind of curse does the Beresford mansion keep inside? For 200 years its inhabitants have suffered the consequences of an unknown shadow, a dark being who walks among us, and whose existence extends beyond what we imagine.
Now James will face the ultimate test of her live. He will know the true horror. The suffering of a father. The clock is ticking and the survival game can no longer be stopped.

Developed by Dreamlight Games Studios SL, Fear the Dark Unknown: James (2020) is an action adventure game with survival elements, not a full fledged horror title, though it incorporates influences from Resident Evil and Silent Hill, like fixed camera perspectives, zombie like enemies, and atmospheric tension. You play as James Sullivan, searching for his missing daughter Chloe in a cursed mansion filled with dark secrets and supernatural threats. The voice acting evokes the old style Resident Evil games cheesy, over the top deliveries that harken back to the '90s era, which can be charming or cringeworthy depending on your taste. The story isn't particularly interesting, revolving around a familiar cursed family legacy and occult mysteries that feel predictable and undercooked. Some puzzles are downright stupid, relying on obtuse logic or trial and error that frustrates more than engages. Overall, the game is okay but not the best decent for fans of classic survival adventures seeking a nostalgic fix, but held back by its flaws. If you're into Resident Evil like experiences on a budget, it might scratch the itch; otherwise, there are stronger options out there
