The Firelord

The Firelord is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This shovelware platformer is a platformer brawler with an emphasis on shooting waves of various stock asset enemies. You can build various combos and customise the attacks your "magical" protagonist can use. Many of the assets are stock assets/from asset stores, but the developer has done the right thing and acknowledged they didn't do most of the work from the game and used the work of others, so that's something. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. This has no business being as fun as it is. Can be beaten under an hour.

Finished it, simple, nice, very short, 8 wave missions, on the samey small scenario. Lot of power-ups and enemies. Liked it, **paid very little, well spent I say** for a short mindless pastime, but well done.
