The Great Tournament 2

I'd like to preface this with the fact that I don't really consider this a *bad* game, as I can see the potential.. but unfortunately steam doesn't allow Neutral reviews still First off, this game is nowhere near as good length wise as the first game.. but I can tell that there's somewhat of a reason for that, as I think the author has made it quite broad.. there are lots of different possibilities as to how your imported save can have turned out, and if I'm correct, I believe it lets you play out all of them.. though it does at the start rejig your stats back to bases a little sadly, and has changed a few things compared to the ending text of the first one I believe that's partly why it's so short.. it lacks in length, but I suspect it has lots of breadth If you're the type of person who played these games multiple times to try all different kind of endings, I think you will likely be quite happy with this one, as it will let you continue on all of those adventures and see all the different paths If you tend to prefer just playing through once or twice, I feel you might not be getting as much out of it unfortunately While I did like it a little as a continuation, I did feel t…

It was one of the first interactive fiction games I've played, and at the tender age of 15 or so, I didn't see any flaws. Or honestly, I just looked past them. I liked the sequel back then but not as much as the first game. Unfortunately, [i]The Great Tournament[/i] doesn't really hold up. It's shorter than the first game, and while it still has a strong Kingdom Management portion, the rest of the game crumbles under its ambition. There's choice, war, diplomacy, and economy, but not enough. Not deep enough or clearly explained. Characters are flat, and there are mistakes with typos and punctuation. Your choices do matter, but at the same time, there's a lot of RNG and variables that are just outright confusing. [b] Pros:[/b] [list] [*] Let’s give credit where it’s due—this game aims high. The text is great. And story really cares about your choices in the first game. I mean, there is very small numbers of game that change that drastically depending on if you married the princess or not, and on fate of the villian from the first game, there is like three different CoG games in one, with multiply ways and challenges. And then there is decent, if short, sidestory. But the problem is the interface. The game made in such way that you will be VERY tired by by clicking. I mean, try buy 50 horses one by one by clicking on option, scrolling down long list, and clicking it again. And that stuff is very common here. Francly, game need sliders very hard (and CoG don't have sliders as far as I know) or, at least, input strings (which are supported, althought it will turn playing on mobile into hell too). In short: Great adventure which cares about your choices on complitely wrong engine.
