About The Last Archwing
The Last Archwing is a fast paced, vertically scrolling space shooter. You assume the role of Chet Brickhouse, the sole survivor of Earth's defense fleet. Pilot Earth's most advanced star fighter, the Archwing, to stop the advancing hordes of aliens from the invading Zarkhan Empire. Each level of the game is replete with fully voiced dialogue sequences that bring the colorful characters and the world of The Last Archwing to life.
Save Earth together with friends! The game fully supports up to four player cooperative play, either local or online using Steam's Remote-Play-Together feature!
You must fight your way through an entire fleet of unique enemies and bosses. Destroyed enemies will reward the player with upgrade credits and power-up capsules to collect. Credits may be spent in between levels to upgrade your ship's weapons, shields, and special abilities.
Collected capsules will charge up the player's special meter. Charges of the meter may be spent to perform a Barrel Roll, which quickly maneuvers the player out of harm's way and offers temporary invincibility. A fully charged meter can be expended to fire the Super Death Wave, a powerful screen clearing weapon.
The game has a range of difficulty levels that will be sure to challenge players of all skill levels.
Looking for a greater challenge? Enter hardcore mode where you have to take on the enemy with only one life, but once that life is over your score will be uploaded to the leaderboards, compete with the community to see who can take first place!

The Last Archwing is an arcade-like 3D rendered 2D top down vertical scrolling bullet hell/shoot 'em up. Gameplay consists of extremely derivative top down shooting baddies and avoiding bullets. The tired, obsolete gameplay is accompanied by a pointless, badly written story narrative and mediocre hand drawn character art. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. It's nice that 3D rendered models were used instead of lazy 2D pixel "art"... but it's 2022. Galaga was out in 1981. 41 years of advancement in video games should not be delivering derivative products that are arguably inferior to the games they're ripping off. Fun SHMUP. I only played it on easy since i am not too great in this genre. Took me around 1.5h and approx. 5 deaths. The story was fun and felt like a short light hearted adventure. If the balance on higher difficulties is as good as on easy mode i really applaud the devs for this. The upgrade system felt also well implemented. I'd say if you want to try out a SHMUP game but don't want to become too frustrated after the first few missions try this game. At some point i'll try normal mode.

Broken game. Everything looks good until you actually start, then it gets a ghost signal that locks your ship to the far right with guns firing. It does this with and without a controller installed and none of the other almost 500 games I have on Steam have this issue. This game is breoken.
A simple old-school shooter that doesn't try to be more than what it is. The gameplay is simple, the story is simple, even the upgrades are simple. If you like these old vertical shooters, and if you're not expecting a AAA game, this might be for you.
The Last Archwing is an arcade style shooter with tight controls, satisfying explosions, and an upgrade system that levels up your ship after completing each stage, allowing you to allocate points to your offensive or defensive capabilities. The enemies each have well conceived behaviors that you can quickly get accustomed to. A very cool feature is that if you set the difficulty up, you can get your name on a global high score table, which boosts this game's replayability. While the manga style artwork on the characters could use some polish, the voice characterizations make this game explode with personality. This game is a tremendous effort from a single developer, and I had a great time playing it. I would definitely recommend The Last Archwing to anyone who likes arcade shoot-em-ups, or action games.
