I'm surprised to see there is that much positive reviews to be honest and I'm a big fan of Dead End Road. I love The Nothing, it is a visual morbid piece of art, the music is nice and the gameplay is pretty cool too. You kill mobs, loot, manage your inventory, sell the sh*t you don't need, get to the boss and kick his as*.
You can even burglarize the store owner and steal his stuff.
That being said the dash is terrible, half the time I use it it won't actually work like it's supposed to even tough I mash the button like a mongoloid. The boss are either way too easy or absolute bullsh*t and I won't even talk about
the headless dude with a chainsaw that will sometime invade you alway in the middle of a boss fight
! You need to push a button to use doors except the doors appearing after each boss, these doors only need you to be in proximity, so if you don't pick up your loot and stay to the right the door will appear on you and you will leave on the spot, leaving all the loot on the floor, that's really bad design. Another thing that annoy me, let's say I open a chest and find some heals in it but my inventory is full, why can't I just use …

Only get this if you like "arthouse games" and if you rate unorthodox design above the actual gameplay. This game has very interesting visuals, surprisingly good music and very creepy and surreal enemy design. Game looks pretty rough and unpolished at times which is expectable as it was made by a solo dev and I honestly don't think he spent too much time on it, but all the above mentioned things together make it look like a weird surreal dream, or rather a nightmare. Gameplay wise it is a pretty standard rouguelite game. You travel across randomly generated rooms, you kill bad dudes (or run from them), you get items that make you stronger, heal you or whatever. Eventually you find a boss, kill him, move to another level and so it goes. Unfortunately game has very little content and gets repetitive pretty quickly. Rooms are the same on each level, enemies have a large variety at design but in fact most of them use the same basic attack pattern what makes combat very repetitive. There seem to be very few items as well and most items do the same thing actually but with a different effect (stronger healing, better damage and so on). Game has a lot of bosses that are random at each r…

Great techno/lo-fi aesthetic and a beautiful soundtrack, but controls are clumsy and gameplay is often unrefined. It's a shame, because interest fades sooner than it should. Worth a look for the atmosphere alone.
