About The Old City: Leviathan
The Old City: Leviathan is an experiment in first person exploration that focuses entirely on story.
Everything else is secondary. All that exists is you and the world. Set in a decaying city from a civilization long past, The Old City: Leviathan puts the player in the shoes of a sewer dwelling isolationist. You progress through the narrative by simply exploring the world. The story itself is told via the musings of your character and, chiefly, the environment itself. This environment has been designed to be diverse, interesting, and meaningful to the narrative of the game.
The objective is to understand. The story of The Old City: Leviathan is not told in a traditional manner. As you progress through the narrative, you will overhear a conversation between two entities. The first entity is the nameless character you are controlling who communicates through a monologue. The second entity is the depths of the environment, details and all. Your task is to piece together the narrative as if you are jumping into a conversation with no context. The more you explore, the more you will potentially understand.
This experience is not a normal one.

Walking sim adventure that starts a bit rough with six pages of optional text to read and a boring, nondescript, maze-like area. Throughout the game, it's easy to miss locations because of alternate routes. Possibly very short chapters. Avoid doors marked "Exit" until you feel you've explored enough in the current level, but you can't always rely on that. The bland story became intriguing halfway through, but it got too deep and philosophical for me near the end. Very good narrator with appealing voice. Nice graphics. I admired them a lot more when nature and dreamlike things started appearing. In particular, those distant big creatures were impressive. This wasn't a recommendation after the first playthrough, but it became one on the second when I experienced and understood more of it.12 found this helpful
Have very fond memories of this one. Considered looking into starting working as a video game photographer while playing this game, lining up the camera angle to capture the beautiful renders. Reminded me of a song, "Find me and follow me through corridors" - (by the band) Franz Ferdinand ‧ 2004
Short game. One of my favorite walking sims. The atmosphere is dream like and the narration feels very existential. This is one of those games that some people will love, and others will hate. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. Well made.
Waste of time. Boring.

Need a surreal change of pace? Don't come to this expecting to know everything, thats not the point. Just enjoy the journey
