About The Protagonist: EX-1

War looms between the Terrans and an invading synthetic race. A massive station appears high in orbit and first contact between them goes very wrong.

An elite strike team led by Angel, a highly trained special agent with advanced martial arts skills, is sent to neutralize the threat. But the mission goes awry and Angel awakens in the infirmary of the station's lab. With no memory of what happened, she must trust an unfamiliar face to guide her through the alien ship and find the rest of her team. She only knows this: they are the only hope of Terra.

A potentially great game, with lots of love put into its system, which makes the fact of it being abandoned so much more frustrating. I got into another soft lock that will not allow me to progress and can't seemingly be fixed by reloading, so I am giving it up. Don't play this game if you are not into huge disappointments, it starts out great, makes you love it, then cuts it when you have just started enjoying.

if this was still being worked on it'd be a promising early access but that doesn't seem to be the case. Missing too much info when considering actions in combat, like percentage chance to hit, line of sight, what move will put you in range, etc. Then got stuck on quest I couldn't progress in section 3 :[

This review is from an actual playthrough. I feel like I had to start with that because the review section for this game is quite...strange. Anyway, Protag EX-1 is a good TBS. It can crash, softlock you (but there are tons of autosaves that literally can save you), and lagg after turns, but other than that it's pretty okay. There are 7 surprisingly big map in a space station, a decent story, and a very-very unique hand to hand combat IN the turn based combat itself. I never seen anything like this before, and I seriously think this could have been something special. But it's unfortunately not. The whole game feels like an alpha version of a someday great title, but at this point it's just abandoned. When the combat really starts going it's already over, like the game itself. The first few levels are slow paced, even for a TBS, and when you could just start to enjoy it with your build up team, then it's over. But hey, it's 10-12 hours and for a price I could barely buy a kilo bread at the bakery, who complains? Well, seeing the reviews many people, and considering it's not a one man project that I somehow believed during gameplay, it's ridiculously unpolished, …
