The Retro Exorcist

i love this game so much, i don't feel a lot of involvement from games like these, but this one kind of hit. also i really love Eve's expressions, her expressions are so cheery and silly. the story line is super easy to follow, your choices influence the game in a good but not over the top way, so it feels more authentic. i just overall love this game and it was worth the time i put in for the 100%

Free to play game, really good! I was a Creepypasta-fandom kid back in the day so it was really fun seeing the various "OH THAT CHARACTER" popups, and figuring out what certain ones were even references Fun gameplay, fun decision-choice stuff, 100% achievements was really difficult but I found the post on Itch.io with all the secret names. Can't wait to see more from this person with Mirror Drama

The Retro Exorcist is a free to play horror game that combines old school visuals with a creepy supernatural setting. You play as an exorcist who has to investigate strange locations and deal with paranormal activity. The biggest strength of the game is its atmosphere. The retro style makes everything look old and unsettling, while the dark environments and strange events create a good horror feeling. The game focuses more on exploration and atmosphere than constant combat. You have to look around, find clues and work out what is happening before dealing with the supernatural threats. The retro graphics are also a nice touch. Instead of trying to look realistic, the game uses a deliberately old fashioned style. This makes the game feel like something you might have played on an older console or computer. The horror works better because you are not always sure what is going to happen. Exploring an empty area and hearing something strange can be more effective than simply throwing enemies at you constantly. The biggest problem is that the gameplay is quite simple. There are not a huge number of mechanics, so most of the experience comes from exploring and experiencing the horror…

I will say, the patch only fixed one of the two big problems for me (maybe resetting data and starting over again would help, but I haven't had the strenght to try yet), but at least there was an effort. [strike]it only took like four months[/strike] I'm changing my review to the positive it always deserved, and hope the dev doesn't ignore (justified) complaints for so long when they release their next game. Because really, the game itself is fun.

A cool game, but you'd best be taking notes on which choices work and which don't. I like how straight-forward every interaction is. There is a way to talk that yields good results and a way to talk that yields bad results. I haven't gotten every ending, but it definitely feels more like a deduction game. At no point during the game did I splash holy water upon the monitor and yell "the power of Christ compels you!", which is a bit sad. 7/10. For some reason there was a problem posting this review, but I think it is fine. There might have been a spirit that needed to be exorcised.

Short, sweet, and clearly made with a lot of love for all those old creepypastas you stayed up way too late at night reading.
