The Sleep Experiment

Played on Linux using Proton Exp, Not much to say really, Graphics/Textures are not that good, sound is kind of okay but very minimal and not in a good way, Game play was puzzle to get key, find code to get key, etc and really as far as i can tell a Walking Sim. I say as far as i can tell due to one very bad Puzzle idea (The Idea was sort of okay it was just done so bad), The 3 Picture Puzzle, I think I'm not the only person to bring this up in a Review, Spent around 40 minutes trying to do this and then gave up, so that's as far as i got in the Game and will not be putting myself though that nasty puzzle again, Ever. Bought in a Bundle with 3 other Games for under £2.00 so wasn't expecting much from these Games. So yeah not Recommended...

i enjoyed the game until i reached the picture puzzle tried to solve for an hour then when i solved it the last picture fire wouldnt work it would just disappear the i quit the game. ggs

As others have already noted this is a good game held back by a truly abysmal puzzle that occurs late in the game. The atmosphere and weird warping of reality from the beginning up to that particular point is really good. Jumpscares are present but not overused and the focus tends to be more on solving environmental puzzles. The story is decent and makes sense. Graphically and sonically everything works to immerse you in the hallucinations of the sleep experiment. What holds it back seems to be a lack of playtesting on one of the final puzzles. You can get past the puzzle with a hell of a lot of persistence but what is galling is that you can see exactly what the game wants you to do but be unable to execute it. It's maddening. This really should have been fixed during development or shortly after the first reviews. If it weren't for that puzzle it would be a solid recommend but I can't in good conscience give that as the puzzle is just that bad. The plot has potential, but the mechanics are truly the most horrifying part of the game. 2/10 rating, because the previous game I played was rather ok with pedophilia. Literally 2 points for not being pedophiles.
