The Slingshot VR

[h1] Experienced on the Oculus Rift [/h1] I definitely don't think this app is priced appropriately at $2.99 USD. I got it for .79 cents USD and I think it is easily worth that much. So I understand why this app has a Mostly Negative review standing on Steam. That's unfortunate because the VR ride itself is fun and unique. I have tried almost every VR ride out there. This one stood out to me because I had never seen a ride like this one and because of the nice visuals surrounding the ride. The whole ride is about 2 minutes long, maybe a little over 2 minutes. It is a sling shot ride, so you should expect to go up and down and rotate 360 vertically. You have a female who screams at the top of her lungs, with her mouth shut. I thought that was very impressive. She's nicely detailed though, with strange thick black eyeliner around her eyes. There's also nice little details in world. You can see dandelions floating in the air. There's a crowd of twins, triplets, quadruplets behind a barrier looking at you and your girl. There's a gang of birds flying just above where you reach your apex. The clouds in the sky and the surrounding trees are nicely done, which is surprising from this …

Sorry but can't recommend this, it's the first game I've ever asked to be refunded. I used a WMR headset and the controllers aren't integrated, i.e. they do nothing within the game so I couldn't get anything to happen at all until I read a review that says you have to use the space bar, which is really inconvenient when you can't see due to, you know, having a headset on. So you either need to have someone else present to press the space bar for you, or rush back into position while repositioning your headset. Also the game doesn't automatically put the player in the correct position on the ride, you are supposed to be in the seat but I was hovering above and to the side of a headless body and I didn't care to try to somehow position myself correctly while at the same time trying to get my headset sorted after pressing the space bar.

I would have loved to recommend this game. However, the developers failed to provide even basic instructions on how to get started on this game, As it turns out, you need to press the "Space Bar" to start the game, HTC Vive Controllers do nothing to start the game, and these guys should have known enough to provide a quick guide or tutorial. Game itself is short, and not very realistic like some roller coaster games I tried.

If you like going up and then down you will like this game.
