About The Tale of: Bubble Boy

WARNING!

This Game Is Meant To Be Really Difficult And Punishing!
Players are required to learn and master new, unique controls in order to successfully finish the game.

The Tale of: Bubble Boy

After the tragic death of his father, Bubble Boy decides to take up his cross and fulfill his father's dream by placing a cross on the highest mountaintop in the Alps. Rather than climbing to the top, like his father, Bubble Boy decides in child-like faith to get there by more unconventional means:A giant soap bubble!

How to Play

All you need is a mouse!
  • To go upwards, move the mouse from right to left, first breathing in and then moving the mouse from left to right, blowing out the air. As you blow out air, the bubble moves up.
  • Hold either the left or right mouse button, while blowing out air, to move to the left or right.
  • How long you move the mouse determines how fast the bubble goes up, left, or right, and how big the bubble grows.
  • Short mouse movements make the bubble grow slowly and also make the bubble go slower, which is useful for more control.
  • By moving the mouse to the right and holding it there, Bubble Boy holds his breath, which causes the bubble to shrink. This can be useful to maneuver past tight areas, but don't let the bubble get too small, or it will pop.
  • Don't let the bubble hit anything at all, or it will pop!
  • Once the bubble pops, you have to start again, all the way from the beginning...

Warning!

The maker of The Tale of: Bubble Boy is not responsible for any wrist, arm, hand, or any injuries of any kind, obtained while playing the game. Nor for any damage done to your mouse or other hardware by repeated mouse movements. Don't throw your mouse against the wall because the bubble popped! Play at your own risk.

As a close personal friend of the developer I have to attest to the absolute craziness of this game. There is absolutely no way I can dream of getting close to the top of the mountain, which is telling for both my level of patience and talent. Coincidentially this game shines precisely because of the creator's patience and talent. There is a huge attention to detail, loving design and a game concept that, to me, feels unexpected and new. There are many things to love here. Mostly the controls, which feel novel in an unexpected way: I consider myself to be very accurate when working with a computer mouse. Still, there is no gentle way to put this: I absolutely suck at trying to make serious progress with this specific set of movements. While in a way I was lucky enough to so far still be at the beginning when plummeting back into the tub. Still, every failed attempt made me want to come back for more - which I consider to be a great feat for a computer game. I'll happily admit that I started playing this game primarly because of knowing its (sole!) creator quite well - but being obviously proud of his achievement does not cloud my appreciation of the game on its own merits. It…

This game is a brutal unforgiving yet strangely addictive puzzle game. I think Tim is a closet sadist for developing it. :D Get it if you think you're up for the challenge. Screenshot your highest heights or it didn't happen. :P you can find my game play review on Twitch #WickieTheGnome Cheers! Wickie
